buttstock cartridge holder

Hey! i'd like to see buttstock cartridge holders made into the game to make some shortcuts and also to act as a seperate storage container. I'd like to see it mainly to speed up reloading so you can hit "R" or other hotkey instead of drag and dropping it into your gun. The holder will hold 10 rounds if rifle ammo or say 6 or 8 for shotgun. Once emptied out, you will have to manually drag drop ammo back into your gun or after a fight reload the holder for the quick reload.

 

Thoughts on it?

there could be stripper clips added, but thats not what i'm suggesting, google Mosin Nagant buttstock shell holder or cartridge holder or pouch or something similar.

There are guys i know who run a cartridge holder on their SMLEs when hunting. They don't bother with stripper clips and it's simpler to have the ammo on the gun and a box more in their backpack/car. Don't see why it would be any different for a Mosin.

The game takes place in Chernarus, not the western world. I said stripper clips because that is what the Russian military (the propagators of the Mosin Nagant) used. 7.62x31 stripper clips would be a lot easier to find than anything else. Sorry for wanting realism >.>

theres the clip for the sks already so for the mosin sure

but you can load the gun without it (even if in the game you dont have a clip you use one anyways)

making it easier to get to the rounds like a belt or stock bullet holder would be nice

That doesn't make a stock bandolier any less viable, that's like saying, why add iron sights when everybody is going to have a PU/ red dot sight is better.

It's just the inbetween.

I think normal loading needs to be much much slower aswell, also make mag/ stripper clip loading time consuming.

Most owners of Mosin Nagants are Civillians, and probably 90% of the owners of Mosin Nagants that I know don't own stripper clips for them. And if you're going to be a realism nazi for the Nagant you should make having it chambered in 7.62x54r instead of 7.62x51 your priority.

1. Yes, 7.62x54r should be a separate ammunition type. Russia and the United States has gone through so many choices in ammunition in the last 60 years that it's hard to remember exactly what uses what without googling.

You misunderstood the suggestion. The OP wants the ability to store a few rounds (5-10) in a pouch on the buttstock, which is something you can add to many rifles in the real world.

 

And of course we need stripper clips for the Mosin. As well as the ability to load it one round at a time (which you currently can't do without emptying the entire magazine first).

Looking good there Lok. You could add stuff like this for many weapons. Not uncommon to see on an M16 for example either.

Yeah. I figured that out a bit late. But I don't think it's a necessary idea; if he wants an ability to reload on "R," it should be with magazines, not with a pouch on his gun. Regardless, there should never be an r to reload in DayZ, or scroll-to-reload; you should have to go into your inventory, find a magazine, slide that over to your gun and swap magazines out.

I didn't think the OP meant it would make reloads faster, just a way to carry a few extra rounds without taking up space in the bag... I don't think it WOULD make reloads much faster in real life either, compared to say keeping a few rounds in your pocket.

Actually will be more useful for the shotgun that has only 2 round, i think in game it can work like combined magazine for the M4 (that actually are irrealistic too cause you simply get 60 bullets and not a fast reload after the first 30 r.nds has been shooted)

The suggestion wasn't to make the character reload the gun any faster, it was so that you could use the R shortcut for the reloading like the m4 if any ammo is available in the holder. The holder or holders if you want to see each gun have its own holder would allow a cosmetic change to your rifle (or shotty!) aswell as storage so you can keep your ammo in a can.

Well believe me, those rounds on the stock are gonna be in your weapon quite a bit faster than when you have them in a pocket or pouch. Especially if you are prone or kneeling.
