The new axe animation is lame

According to me.

 

The new animation axe is slower than the previous ones which defeats the act of axing zombies quick.

 

You run slightly faster than before with the axe though. Not sure if this is of use

so its a bit slower to axe a zombie, so what? axes are 1 hit kills to zombies anyways and 2-4 hits for another player.

You can't swing a friggin axe around like a madman; hitting a zombie will cause the axe to stop, and pulling it out of their face is going to take a second. Axes are heavy.

 

However, the hit detection is screwed right now. Axe swing through face = no hit. Axe swing far to the left or right of the zombie = hit

This may not be the game for you then; one of the main things people trumpeted about the mod version of DayZ was that it was so punishing and cruel that it wasn't fun; "It's not a game, it's an anti-game".

 

Rocket goes for brutally punishing realism; this will become more of a simulator than a game. If you feel that simulators and games mix, then feel free to. It won't get any less realistic from here on out.

All you have to do to avoid being hit is walk in a circle around a zombie, and quickly keep hitting and turning.

Never stay stationary when in melee, I'm sure that's why you get rectum wrecked.

lol calm the heck down. I am saying realistic not equals to fun. There should always be balance. If it's too realistic then it defeats the purpose of playing a game. Understand? Pssst.... DayZ SA is not realistic /end psst.

   If you think about it, not really. I eat just until I get full energized, then I don't need to eat for at least another hour IRL... Also, if this were real, running around like that all the time, all the stress, all the environmental factors, you're bound to run out of energy and hydration very quickly.

You are the only one getting antsy. The thing is, in real life, there is no balance. There is only what is intended. That is why the M4A1 in DayZ is currently the best weapon; it is the most modern rifle in the game. It cannot be balanced; an 1880 (Mosin Nagant) rifle is not going to beat a 1994 one. Again, this isn't much of a game rather than a simulator. Realism has no place in a game. A simulator, however...

Alright, I never use this excuse because 99% of the time it is a bullshit passive excuse to ignore all flaws with the game. Sadly, it is applicable. Alpha. The medical system is going to receive a massive upgrade later down the road. How realistic, who knows. All I can say is that we cannot judge that particular aspect of DayZ just yet.

and I don't know why you are rambling about guns. Calm down. This is a sandbox. Plus DayZ isn't that realistic at all. It's not that hardcore.

I dislike the new axe animation. Its stupid you have to put your hands up. Plus its super slow even after they tweaked it.

This is the most passive aggressive way of being irritated. Remember kids, when you're mad about something, or if someone disagrees with you, remember to say that they're raging, regardless of whether or not they actually are.

THIS. To all the little bitchers and moaners and this mechanic who are just annoyed they have to stop and eat after running 500 km to get mad military lewtz, go try this in real like and see how fast you need water and food before you start developing headaches and cant run anymore.

 

Besides it is a game, It would be a pointless mechanic if you didnt have to drink for 3 days like some humans can last under certain conditions. ie. NOT THE ONES IN DAYZ.

If they never change the axe animation, I won't even care as long as they make zombies have a reasonable cooldown before they respawn, preferably a good distance away from any players' bubbles. It still destroys them easily, and I even do fine with the hoe and pitchfork. It's the fact that you can find yourself in a situation where they never stop coming that is frustrating. And I'm not talking about Cherno. Anywhere with more than 5 or six zombies in fairly close proximity can become a "horde" of sorts, constantly respawning and aggroing as you dispatch each one. I know it's a work in progress, but I hope the next expy patch adds a "simple cooldown" to go with the "simple respawn."

 

Really, what the fireaxe could use is a drastic cut in spawn rate. Can't wait for that beta...

i really don't give two shits about the animation, but the melee weapons need to hit where we're aiming, not in a random spot somewhere 5cm from your body.

I must be playing a different game then. Dayz is a piece of piss to play and always has been except the point where, in the Mod, the antibiotics became so rare that even after searching for them for 10 hours, you still couldn't find them. Hunt the item is boring and boring != game
