Would you like spawn points spread out?

I would, but if the majority of players hated it - and a true majority would be pretty hard to determine based on a little poll - then not enough to say that I'd want my way over everyone else. Really, I want the devs to figure out what's the most balanced, once all of the other pieces have been implemented. If you think about it, spawn areas are one of the best places to look for addressing balance, since so many other aspects have a harsh, even frustrating trade-off between balance and authenticity. It's always nice to give a nod to authenticity, even if realism is impossible and not fun. Finally, I highly doubt we're even close to seeing the final product as far as spawn areas.
  2. So we can't have a General Discussion about the Rezzed Stream because someone announced it in the devtracker already and didn't bother to lock it, or was it because that OP had no content in it besides a URL? Cause it'd be nice to have a centralized topic to discuss the roadmap, preferably somewhere most users would reasonably expect to find it, but I don't want to start a redundant topic for obvious reasons. I'm genuinely confused by the decision making on this one. What is the General Discussion forum actually for? Complaining about KoS?
  3. Lol, okay Rocket. Thanks for telling us how to play the game. In reality, the "right" way to play the game is the way that is fun for you, that doesn't ruin it for others. That's pretty universal... And right now, we're testing an alpha, so the "right" way to play the game is a variety of playstyles, with a variety of equipment. You trying to hammer out a standard meta-game is the part that's wrong.
  4. How many times has that even happened to you? And if three people cornered you in a building with automatic weapons, you probably would be fucked in real-life. The part where they have to rush in and dislodge you is the unrealistic part. EDIT: Besides, it doesn't matter because YOUR SOLUTION IS NOT THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS. People have pointed out negative consequences as a result of your "solutions," but instead of trying to refine your ideas and make them better, instead you go "but THIS is also a way people exploit the game."
  5. Ghosting should be impossible, given the plethora of complaints about the cooldown timer. If you're sticking around for over five minutes, without eyes on your target, and they manage to log back in behind you, the problem is YOU. As for server hopping and other exploitative methods of loot-farming, I don't really see how it affects me. Low-skill players with high-value gear, roaming the woods of Chernarus, actually sound kind of good to me. It's like the airfields come to you. No need to limit people's options for online play, just because someone, somewhere is abusing the game. *Oh, won't someone think of the children!* I think it's hilarious that you want the devs to limit people's options because you don't like seeing 1/40 servers on the server list. Seriously, get over yourself. Besides, low-pop servers aren't even a sign of server hopping unless you log into one and check the server list to see people come in and out. I've logged into a freshly restarted one and had me and the same guy as the only people on the server all the way till restart. I even managed to spot him in the supposedly "empty" north. In summary: A noob with a scoped mosin is little threat to you, so server-hopping is a self-defeating problem. Anyone with the experience and skill necessary to really make good use of the milspec gear probably knows how un-fun and inefficient server-hopping is.

What the f*ck is going on on the coast?

Or, to rephrase it a just a bit: "One person killed my friend on a low pop server, so now I kill everyone on sight." Had to watch your friend die? Are you serious? This isn't vietnam or the streets of Baghdad, this is a video game. I've watched lots of friends die. One time, it was my own friendly fire that did it! That doesn't cause me to never carry a gun. Someone killed your friend, which apparently ruined your fun, so your plan is to cause that same feeling for everyone you meet in-game, by shooting them? Really, think about it. People didn't make up the Golden Rule because it gives you warm and fuzzies. If it's always eye for an eye, eventually everyone goes blind. I can respect the person that admits they're a coward and trigger happy. I can even accept the video-game bully that just likes to ruin the game for other people. What gets under my skin is the, "I died ONE TIME, so now I shoot everyone I see AND I still feel like a good person. It's self-defense."
  7. That seems like a hilariously defensive attitude coming from an anonymous, detached observer. I'm surprised you didn't say "curse those handsome devils."
  8. It's a good guide. If there was only one thing I would suggest, it would be diversifying where you store your equipment, so a single stumble on a rock doesn't ruin all of your M4 mags, or an errant zombie strike can't take out your pistol and all of its magazines.

Who needs a cramped middle "w" finger?

Or games with big maps?

The new axe animation is lame

If they never change the axe animation, I won't even care as long as they make zombies have a reasonable cooldown before they respawn, preferably a good distance away from any players' bubbles. It still destroys them easily, and I even do fine with the hoe and pitchfork. It's the fact that you can find yourself in a situation where they never stop coming that is frustrating. And I'm not talking about Cherno. Anywhere with more than 5 or six zombies in fairly close proximity can become a "horde" of sorts, constantly respawning and aggroing as you dispatch each one. I know it's a work in progress, but I hope the next expy patch adds a "simple cooldown" to go with the "simple respawn." Really, what the fireaxe could use is a drastic cut in spawn rate. Can't wait for that beta...

    Long Range on the SKS

I kind of like the off-topic better than the topic on this one.
  12. Not terrible, but I already know not to go afk under bridges on the coast, and to not use railroad tracks or roads for much besides landmarks. Honestly, I was more surprised you followed them so closely to the track for much of it, but changing anything about your approach would have screwed up the perfect timing you had here, so there's really not a lot of room for poking holes in your play. At least, not from me. +2 web kudos for being good with the SKS and the ugly, barely-magnifying PU scope. The scope is one of the items on my "I really hope this is placeholder" list.

What civ style weapons would you like to see?

I'm glad one or two of you strive for more than stretching the meaning of "civilian weapon" as far as possible. I thought for a second this thread was just going to be pictures of AR15 variants.

Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?

I didn't play the mod, but it seems silly to bring up the colds and heart attacks that aren't even really in the game yet. Heart attacks made experimental a couple weeks ago, but it's basically just a way to make unconsciousness have multiple causes, so the Defib has a purpose and so triage takes a bit longer. The "medic" system simply does not exist in any real sense. As for the meta-game in Standalone, have we even really seen it? Most of the time I'm frustrated with DayZ, it's because of something not in the game yet, not because it was implemented poorly. Even when that is the case, like with zombies, the devs have already acknowledged that they're barely more than placeholders. I get the concerns, and I appreciate how much fun the mod was, since it is the reason the SA is even being made,, but I also trust the professional game developers to know how to realize that vision far better than I ever could. If you really think they're trying to say they want an easy game, I question your intelligence. If you're willing to pretend to misunderstand someone so you can rewrite their thoughts as something stupid and pathetic, I question your integrity. They like the milsim and faction aspects of the game, that's all. It's not that hard to figure out. There's no reason to decide that it means they're not hardcore enough for you. Who crapped in your punchbowl tonight?
