"Private Servers" exist and it does no good to report them

Those people pay an outrageous price to do what they want with their server. Fk right off

Nope. Thay pay an outrageous price to follow the goddamn rules, or they get their server taken away. See, that wasn't so hard.

It isnt legal to reset the server upon a death to save face or prevent your gear from being looted, its in the TOS right along with you being able to kick anyone for being abusive or anything of the innapropriate nature.  However you lost me about the "take it back 30 seconds part" that doesnt make sense.

When the server restarts it usually takes back your character 30 seconds to a minute before you actually got the "no message from server...." message.

As for people server kicking, they don't want private servers at the moment to get as many people on servers to see how they handle the load with all the loot spawn, zombies, and players.  They want to get things tested before they allow private servers, or "hives".  So I say abide by the rules that have been put forth already.

Money shouldn't be able to buy rules.

I get that but I still dont see how if he is dead that makes a difference. How can he die, reset the server, come back and kill you? Its just not possible.

You would think they would still be dead, but it's not true.  I've had a few buddies who got lucky when they died and the server reset like 20 seconds later, then they had the character who died back.  In that guys story if they did reset the server at the right time they'd be back to life, and who knows where unless you know where they came from exactly.

Gonna test this out on my server tonight.  Find it hard to believe, but Ill have to take your word for it for now.

Are we playing games so we can follow the rules? Do we get a manual that has a list of rules we MUST ABIDE AT ANY TIME?

If these people spend money on a server they want to keep for themselves, who cares? Why are you so upset about it? WHY is this thread made in the first place? We need to spend our times tracking down glitchers, buggers, hackers.  Not this shit.

In fact there are rules for renting a server.  Which you seem to have ignored when plenty of other people here have stated the same thing.

You think these people don't loot up go to their favorite server hopping location, hop and kos?  I'd bet the majority of these people spend the majority of their time doing this.

If they don't want to play the game or are too afraid to play the game they should go elsewhere.  IMO

Exactly. I hadn't thought this would be possible either and initially assumed the guy was hacking but I died once and the server reset like 10 seconds later and I was right back where I was with all my gear despite having already hit respawn and sitting at the coast (before the respawn timer was put in btw)

sorry but I don't really care that your server hopping takes longer when they kick you from their server.

No you misunderstand me...

I was agreeing. I think it's great when a little 16 year old gets to kick people off his server and cause them to wait longer to play the game cuz now they have a log timer to deal with.

Its awesome that they have the balls to kick everyone out except thier friends so they can loot and not get shot... Its way too scary to have people that will actually shoot at you in the game anyways....

I salute all server owners who ru thier server like its a piggy bank....

It is a Scam.

You're paying $70 a month to help them test the stable branches and gameplay for what equals a very very low scaled advantage. All it does is Shave off time to be as looted as the next guy who'll shoot at him.

They're also denying themselves of a great feeling when they find or kill what they get.

Case in point: Running around on experimental man was it hard to find anything.  But when you find that ammo or gun you're looking for you feel a bit of victory.

Look at how much money they made just from the sales, we "help" them enough just by buying the game, indie developers with less money even have stable stuff..

If they wanted to test it, they should make their own servers instead of relying on people.

if it wasn't ready to be played they should not have released it.

I like how loot should be scare and a lot of zombies, but I want to enjoy it with a group of friends who I know wont hack, who wont server hop, who wont abuse the system.

I don't like playing and getting killed by teleporters or hackers, it takes away the fun.

And imho dayz server renting = scam.

Would be fun trying to rent a car, only to know that if you lock your car or kick strangers out of your car, they will take back your car and you wont get refunds.

DayZ = epic

DayZ current renting system = scam/moneygrab

I can agree that currently the system is flawed since it is oh so apparent that this ability to rent servers is attracting the exact type of players most of us don't want. BIS is sort of enticing them to cheat (yes I consider loot farming cheating).

Some comments here are so disgusting but also the best arguments for implementing private hives immediately. If you are so anti social (you do realize you're playing an MMO, right?) and/or afraid of losing your gear (you do realize the whole point of DayZ is to be brutal, right?) then yes, please leave. Please go to your private hive.

If you enjoy straight-up team vs team battles then I'd recommend another title called Arma 2. It is a military simulator with mostly all the same assets as DayZ. However it is a full release game so you won't be bothered by all the alpha glitchiness of DayZ. I believe Arma 2 features customizable servers (you can kick whomever you want, run any scripts you want). The only major thing that is different is no zombies. So basically not different at all since the zombies haven't really been done yet for DayZ. The smattering of zombies we see now are essentially placeholders.

So yeah, if you hate people or can't stand overbearing rules, I'd try Arma 2 or Arma 3. You can do whatever you want on your server with your buddies. And since a common feature of "join and kick" servers is a desire to do nothing but get all loot as quickly and easily as possible and then join a busy server to do exclusively pvp, I'd recommend Arma again because you wouldn't even need to do ANY looting at all (your soldier will spawn with all high grade stuff). You could go immediately to the pvping with your buddies.

As for me, I love going down to the coast to meet new survivors. There's a lot of cool DayZer's out there. I quite enjoy being an actual part of the community.

p.s. 233 hrs and not a single hacker, thank you again Bohemia, I can't stress enough how huge that is for me!

Its called read the teams and condition's on owning a DayZ server, if you don't like them. Then don't buy one to start with, which will just end up getting blacklisted/blocked. So they will just end up wasting more money. Don't care how much they pay at the end the day. If they don't get warned then there service provider don't care about there customer and only just after there money from them. As on Game Deluxe server you are warned on the terms before buying, what you can do and what you can not do with it!

No, they don't.

They pay an outrageous price AND agree to a specific set of terms and conditions; if they invalid the terms and conditions the price they paid is irrelevant.

People tend to ignore terms and conditions on software they purchase or host to their own detriment, or rather, ignorance.

They should have Private servers plain and simple. Let them play there dumbed down game while we play the game as it was meant too on our Public servers...

Loot in Dayz is like a currency. If some A-hole starts making fake money it throws the whole system outta wack..

you just went full retard.

they dont pay for their servers. they pay a humble fee for a certain, limited service, and are bound to the terms of agreement.

you wanna know what it means, paying for your own server? i pay for my servers. i recently bought a 19" xeon e5 for 1200 bucks, and i pay a significant amount each month to have it colocated in a datacenter of my choice with a service level agreement of my choice. i can do what i want with my server - within the appropriate law.

back to topic though - i am disgusted by the entitlement and asocial attitude of people locking their dayz alpha servers, and by the people here on the forums who defend such behaviour. they ruin the community, and make life for honorable admins harder. (yes, im looking at you, mssing). im not even angry anymore. a few years ago i might have rallied a few friends across some IRC networks and DOS the shit outta such assholes. now im just sad, disappointed, disgusted.

im looking forward to the introduction of private hives because most of those entitlement queens will leave the public hive then..

That seems like a hilariously defensive attitude coming from an anonymous, detached observer. I'm surprised you didn't say "curse those handsome devils."

OK this thread has officially pushed me over the edge.

Private servers are not allowed and if reported they will be eventually taken down.

Admins cannot kick because they want to farm loot, play PvE or link arms and have slumber parties around a campfire.

Please, anyone who sees such servers please report them as explained in this thread:

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting

I am now making it my personal mission to get as many of these servers taken down.

We already have a tool, that changes the server name every 15 sec - Its made purely to make it harder for people to report the server, even though its in your history, its hard to find it .

I don't understand why Bohemia lets random people buy/lease their own servers when it's easy for a company that makes tens of millions on sales to just put out like 500 public servers for everyone to enjoy equally and then employ a few Admins that would deal with cheaters and complaints...
