Slyguy65 499 Posted March 10, 2014 So i played zomboid and a couple other zombie games, and honestly zombies are only threatening/scary, if in one or two cases. 1. You can't outrun them or they can outrun you. 2. Huge numbers in small area, no possible way to kill them all. Will there be a stamina system, cause i don't remember them ever confirming this.If they want to make the zombies relevant they need to. I know they want to do hordes, but again, who cares if we can just run by them laughing.
gannon46 788 Posted March 10, 2014 yeah dean confirmed it in a devblog you will not be a walking armory forever. you will have to carry essientials at least if you want to move fast. I too play PZ and I hope a lot of the things it does comes to dayz.

But with the persistent backpacks option, players will be able to temporarily ditch their pack to run quickly to an area.. there will always be a meta-game way around what ever they code into Dayz. I think its funny. If they make it so you cant run for long periods of time, I know people will find some way around it.
gannon46 788 Posted March 10, 2014 I don't mind if you can run forever I just hope you run slower depending on the amount you carry. you shouldn't be able to carry an ammo tin with 300 rounds plus food medical. and up to four guns, sawnoff, pistol and 2 rifles and run from zeds that's just ridiculous. and without vehicles if they limited the amount of time you could sprint this game would die instantly. could u imagine the grief on the forums. antonioajc 500 Posted March 11, 2014 I was kind off that walking armory on PZ. I always tried to run from the zed and always managed to get away. Until a horde appeared outside the building I was holed up in and they swarmed the rooms.
Martmital 436 Posted March 11, 2014 Get vehicles in the game before they start messing around with restricting our ability to run long distances.
antonioajc 500 Posted March 11, 2014 Get vehicles in the game before they start messing around with restricting our ability to run long distances. Meh, vehicles will be added in about 5-6 months. Until the time comes, people will come bitching about vehicles. "DEAN, WERE R OUR BEHICLS WAAAA, WAAAAA!"
Dagwood 680 Posted March 11, 2014 Implement fatigue AND base building before vehicles and you'll really see a lot of crying.
Canned Muffins 82 Posted March 11, 2014 Yeah I sort of hope we don't see anything like this until we do have vehicles.
antonioajc 500 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Implement fatigue AND base building before vehicles and you'll really see a lot of crying.+ A lot of clothes, zombie improvements (Don't remove their ability to clip through buildings), a lot of weapons with their respected munitions, a weight factor, and different uses for shoes. If you go jogging on leather shoes then you get hurt feet de-buff. Edited March 11, 2014 by AntonioAJC
funky_mish 75 Posted March 11, 2014 I think stamina will be an important addition... eventually. State of Decay is a pretty good example, since it has things like hordes. After some sprinting around and/or swinging your weapon, you will deplete your stamina. You can still move but not run, and you can still fight but at a greatly reduced pace. This is when larger numbers of zombies are a real threat, because you are too tired to fight them all off. Obviously these are two very different games, but the concept would carry well I think. Why should we be able to endlessly sprint away from zombies? I agree with other posters, though. Some additions and fixes need to be in place before this will be viable. Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted March 11, 2014 Chances are, even when vehicles are in, you won't be just hopping in a driving all over the place right off the bat. Most likely you'll need to find parts just to get them into working condition not to mention finding fuel so you'll still be getting exhausted running full tilt looking for parts.
