If you don't have any other characters and just want to die, I'd suggest deleting local content through steam and reinstalling. Will probably take less time than waiting to starve/dehydrate to death and respawning.

go to steam, right click DayZ, properties, find delete local content and click it. then click on DayZ and select reinstall

ffs. Does DayZ progress even when you're not in it. Example: The DayZ tab is closed, I'm playing a different tab, am I still starving?

As far as I know if the game is running and you are on a server your food and water is running down. Not something  have tried though.

yeah, the one time you want to starve fast :)  A friend of mine had the same problem not sure how he got round it, he is not online atm but i'll ask him when he is.

Hmmm... Ok. It's been 4 hours and I haven't starved :(

Once you get to the starvation notification, it takes about 83 minutes to die from just starvation alone assuming you are at full health and blood. Once you hit the dehydrated notification, it'll take about 17 minutes. This can be sped up if you are moving and not idle as these bars drop much slower when not moving

 

Water drops at a rate of around 8 per minute if idle, while food drops at around 4 per minute when idle. If you say you were in the orange level of food and water that means that you had 500 or less food and water levels. So in theory it should only take you 62 minutes to hit the dehydration status and begin to die. If you say this has not happened then something is wrong with your character and you might need to find alternative methods of dying/restarting.

BTW, uninstalling and re-installing is a bad idea since your character is saved on the hive, not on your pc. I just went through the process (for other reasons than wanting my character to reset) and thankfully my character was still as I left him.

Swim to the nearest land. Make a dash for the nearest town, you should be dry once you get there.

 

Go loot a couple of houses, find some food and beverages.

 

Go find a quiet spot and enjoy your meal :) Whilst enjoying your meal, you should sit back and have a think on your suicide thoughts!

 

I thought it would be quicker than trying to starve....un-install game only to re-install...Find some enjoyment in playing the game...

Judging from the thread title, I'm pretty sure his character was physically stuck in a body of water and could not get out, hence his turning to starvation to reset his character position.

I am pretty sure in all my hours in game, my body has never got stuck once in water. I get a lot of desync, shoddy internet and find myself stuck in walls etc a lot! 

 

Now there was no mention in op thread about being physically stuck. He just mentions that he is stuck in the water and would rather die.

 

My thoughts are, that op has fallen/jumped in the water and swam a way out, now finding it hard to navigate back in land as he can only see ocean. Or op cannot find somewhere to climb back up on land and thus being "stuck" in the water.

 

I don't know for sure, just a thought.

Tell bandits in the area your location perhaps they'll go to loot and get stuck as well do the community a favor
