    The Sun

No matter which way I'm running in the game, I feel like I'm always running towards the sun. haha. Sun`s glare op. Too bad sunglasses don't remove some of that for you.

    Craftable Traps

But the difference with a trap vs a claymore is that you would physically be able to see the activation rope, and be able to disarm it. It doesn't go off unless you physically set it off by walking through the rope unlike a claymore where if you see one, you die.

    Craftable Traps

The other idea I had was basically the same concept as the explosive trip mine, except instead of exploding, have it cause a loud noise. For example if airhorns or alarm clocks were implemented into the game, you could create a noise trap that when activated alerts everyone in the area via a loud noise (airhorn blaring/alarm clock ringing)

    Craftable Traps

I mentioned this on a different post talking about the implementation of grenades, and that got me thinking about several concepts. One such idea was the ability to create a sort of explosive trap activated by a hitting a tripwire. With the upcoming addition of item physics, I believe that this could be a really neat idea. To craft one, you would need a grenade (or similar explosive device), rope, and some kind of fixative like duct tape. Then it could be placed or set on the ground, and when a player or zombie steps on the rope it causes the grenade to explode. It would be subtle enough that if you aren't paying attention you'd set it off, but if a player is semi-attentive and not rushing around, they'd be able to spot it and defuse it safely, either via hands, or cutting the rope with some kind of sharp object. I think it's a cool concept that would fit well into the game, and to balance this out as to not have billions of traps everywhere and not make it overpowered, have grenades be a fairly rare drop, or simply give it a two-three second countdown before exploding after being activated.

    Zelenogorsk - the forsaken city

I play on full servers roughly 90% of the time, and even places like the NW airfield have been completely deserted for me for extended periods of time. I'd have time to run, loot every building, camp out for a good 20 minutes and not see a single person. In order to find anyone I had to run all the way back to Electro. Either that or head towards Berezino as that usually has a few people running around there every time I visit.

Stuck in water, can't respawn, want to die

Judging from the thread title, I'm pretty sure his character was physically stuck in a body of water and could not get out, hence his turning to starvation to reset his character position.

    help a Bambi

It's mostly likely the ping filter. At default, the filter is set to only show servers with a ping of 100 or less, and you're probably going to be hardpressed to find a server with that low of a ping.

Stuck in water, can't respawn, want to die

Once you get to the starvation notification, it takes about 83 minutes to die from just starvation alone assuming you are at full health and blood. Once you hit the dehydrated notification, it'll take about 17 minutes. This can be sped up if you are moving and not idle as these bars drop much slower when not moving Water drops at a rate of around 8 per minute if idle, while food drops at around 4 per minute when idle. If you say you were in the orange level of food and water that means that you had 500 or less food and water levels. So in theory it should only take you 62 minutes to hit the dehydration status and begin to die. If you say this has not happened then something is wrong with your character and you might need to find alternative methods of dying/restarting.

    Quick question: What is Hardcore?

In the mod version Hardcore also removed some hud elements and waypoints placed on the map.

    Grenades in DayZ,what you think?

With the new implementation of physics, what I think is a cool idea would be the ability to lay traps for others. For example combining rope, a grenade and maybe duct tape or nails or something, and having that be like a trip mine kind of thing. It should be discrete enough to not be totally obvious, but able to be seen if you're attentive, and the ability to defuse it if seen beforehand.

How many have you killed and why ?

In my 16 hours of the standalone I've only killed two players. The first kill was me wanting to test out my SKS, and so I camped out the hospital in Electro, and shot a fully geared up player who was carrying an m4. My second kill was when I was a fresh spawn and another freshspawn came up to me wanting to have a punching match. I hit him four times and he died, so I'm guessing he was trying to respawn. In my 100+ hours of the mod, I've probably killed less than 30 players. I tend to roam the map in areas less frequented by other players. I also only kill bandits, unless someone gets the jump on me and I kill them out of surprise. I do my best to avoid killing survivors, and I've never killed a fresh spawn.

Shovels are the best counter to bandits.

Also to clarify, it's not that he was in the middle of sniping when I came upon him, he was in the process of reloading his SKS since he only had one 10 round clip on him.

Shovels are the best counter to bandits.

Thank you thank you. I felt this was too glorious to not share since It's not every day that I get to take out fully kitted guys with only a blunt weapon on hand.
  14. That moment when you come across a guy sniping in electro, and begin to bash his head in with a shovel only to have him turn around and take out a sawed off shotgun, miss, then take out a pistol, miss 5 shots, and then die. Looted his corpse to find two fnx45's and seven magazines with at least 90 ammo for them, an sks with a scope and 70 bullets for that, a sawed off shotgun, 2 ammo boxes full of various ammo, 2 small protector cases full of other stuff, 4 handcuffs, full camo clothing, tactical vest, and yeah. And i killed him...with a shovel. To be fair though, all I was wearing was a kickass down jacket and he must have been captivated in all my glory.
