Roshi (DayZ) 397 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) Idea: police stations have a locked cage for rifles and other firearms. Secured by padlocks or in-built locks. Can break in - eg with padlock or axe but makes a lot of noise. Or can find key. Edited March 10, 2014 by Roshi
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted March 9, 2014 Can we lock survivors in the cages and draw their blood after we loot the guns?
Knock (DayZ) 111 Posted March 9, 2014 This would be cool. Since they're adding more survival gameplay (hunting animals, bows and arrows) I would like to see a little less emphasis on guns. Or at least make them harder to get. It would also be nice if there was a good way to combat people who were lucky enough to get the guns first as well (bows and arrows possibly). Another thing: I think the melee system needs some work. 'course, they're probably aware of that, but It would be nice if I could actually fight zombies and people with most melee weapons found. More of a feeling of desperation and using anything you can find. The different weapons could just work in a different way. Right now it seems like the only difference between melee weapons is how much damage they do, and most weapons other than the fire-axe suck.

valtsuh 68 Posted March 10, 2014 yeah weapons are too easy to find lets make it little harder
alldaypk 63 Posted March 10, 2014 I agree, perhaps a firearm safe in a suburban house or one in farmhouses, they hold ammo etc. People can join forces to break into these places. Probs would need balancing
liquidcactus 719 Posted March 10, 2014 Yes, well a core mechanic of this (It's been mentioned elsewhere and most of us have thought about it anyway) could be to have a random zombie somewhere nearby that has the key located on them but all the same you could get lucky and find it sitting on the floor in the establishment with gun safe. Sometimes the zombie holding the key is close sometimes its off down the street hanging with other zombies in an alley. Look for a police uniformed zombie for said key for station safe. A gun safe in a house owned by a resident zombie could be any one of them in the street...temptations But after all this is said and done you can still try to break into these forbidden loot stashes.. perhaps creating alot of noise, an axe would draw infected if the axe hit is continuous. Power tools ? probably wont see that. Al round these ideas we are seeing are good and the situations would be interesting finding them (gun safes) and trying to reason to leave the weapons behind and not bother with a key and just cut losses and move on, of course more so if you are under equipped to acquire the key. Mmmm.. possibilities
Ramzzzeee 17 Posted March 10, 2014 I like this ideal !I think the idea of pad locks/door locks should be implemented into other parts of the game as well, i'd love to find random doors/houses locked up. (This could also be a part of the planned barricades where you could lock up a building your self)There should be 3 ways of dealing with locks imo1) finesse. Using something like a lock pick (or even a credit card or knife for easy door locks)2) brute force. Such as using a bat, axe, crowbar, etc. (This should make lots of noise as stated, and also do a lot of damage to the weapon)3) a key or combination (there could be a genetic key for locks, sorta like hand cuff keys, but it would be real cool if you could find combination that had a "default" code to start but could be changed once unlocked)
