Poll on KoS and Combat logging

What are game features?

54 members have voted

  1. 1. Is KoS a game feature?

  2. 2. Is Combat logging a game feature

Recommended Posts

I'd like to have a referendum of the forum to see who beleives is a game feature or not.

Have a friendly discussion about it if you feel one way or another!

In my opinion KoS is(no matter how much i dislike it ) and combat logging is not.

What you said.

I'd wager that most people would agree combat logging is an exploit.

KOS is deffo yes. That's life, people kill eachother anytime so not unique to DayZ.

Combat logging is lame as hell unless your connection drops or u really have to go somewhere. (30 sec timer applied so it's great).

Prime example for KOS that most of the time saves your own bum.

People are entitled to their opinions. Although if you have an unpopular one , elaboration would be nice.

i really do not understand while people kill on sight, i have done it in the past but dont understand why it seems to be all that happens, i always holster my gun our shoulder my rifle and approach walking while talking,

I wouldn't pull a gun and shoot for the sake of it.

but with combat logging i do disagree with this, in the past have been in gun battles which seem to have drawn out, mainly due to 2 players being very inaccurate. (one of which was me :D) which when i did have to leave, due to going for a meal with my girlfriend which resulted in a "Plug Pull" i realized i had fun while it lasted and i assume he killed me and took the spoils.

That's a...well...useless poll, sry.

KoS is a feature, combat logging is an exploit. Just look at it from an immersive point of view: You can shoot in such a situation always, but you can't magically disappear...

that' your opinion. It's interesting to see the views of people that disagree with you

and while most agree with you, some insight into the opposite view point is interesting

Sure it's my point of view. What should it be otherwise? A can of milk? *shrugs*

And there is one vote (from a troll I think ;) that differs by now...

Got into an epic gun battle the other day with a friend. We were against 4 guys and had them trapped in a control tower and killed them one by one. They had plenty of time to combat log but didn't and I can't tell you how much they made my day. My heart rate was through the roof. Sure, they didn't end up winning but they were good sports and made the game fun because they didn't just quit. I wish there was global chat for giving props to people sometimes.

Combat logging is the worst thing in existence.

so you think  KoS shouldn't be in the game?

Saying you don't like it is not the same as saying it should not be part of the game. I don't care for it but recognize that it exists and always will in a game with people, guns and little consequences. KoS happens in the context of playing the game, people with guns in a lawless world will kill each other for fun or survival. To me, that makes it a valid part of the game. I would not describe it as a "feature" though. It's not an inherent part of the game by design; KoS is a human behavior, not imposed on us by the game mechanics. The fact that humans have free will to act however they want is part of the appeal of DayZ.

Combat logging is not playing the game, it's avoiding the game. There is no in-game context for vanishing completely.

If you're really interested in reading opinions on this, there's a handful of threads like this over the last 2 weeks to read.

My thoughts exactly. But i was talking to the person who had voted No after saying that, believing it shouldn't be in the game.

My votes reflect my opinion of the poll.

I don't understand what you are attempting to say here? Elaborate please.

I voted yes for both choices.

I won't give any details on why I voted yes for KOS, but I will touch on why I voted yes for combat logging.

I voted yes for combat logging being a feature of the game because in the current state of the alpha, it IS a feature that is used on a daily basis and I would be willing to bet that it is used most often by the KOS crowd.

If combat logging wasn't a feature that was meant to be used in order to save your ass, it wouldn't be in the game and you would be forced to be completely out of combat for anywhere between 10-30 seconds like in the DayZ mod.  As long as someone is shooting at you or a zombie is attacking you, you cannot log out.

Don't bother arguing with me or trying to change my opinion because you will be fighting a losing battle.  You will just end up feeling like the chick in this gif.

Or3goniz3d i disagree very heavily with your points, there are a few primary reasons on why i disagree with you:

1) no one eats a taco that badly

2) that taco is poorly made.

Question..

why exactly is a certain PLAYSTYLE in the same category as a game exploit? What is the connection ?

Are you going to make a poll asking if being a medic and hacking are part of the game also?

I voted no for kos and yes for combat logging. (i hate both).

Reason i voted this is because kos is a players choice to kill other players (a gun is a feature)

Combat logging is a feature because you can log out (logging out is a feature, as is logging in or cooking, health system).

Look up what feature means.

No if the vote was are these intended to be in the game then i would say no for combat logging and yes for kos, although i rarely kos.

Because some people feel strongly that com log is allowed and some think KoS isn't allowed. I would like to see :

A) what percentage of players feel either way

&

B) why they feel that way If against norm

EDIT:

Feature as in, it was meant to be in the game, i.e. it would be something the dev would advertise, or condone

Combat logging is the worst thing in existence.

Really? THE.. WORST.. THING.. IN.. EXISTENCE! :o

Seriously though, I take combat loggers as an implicit compliment of my gameplay. Clearly whoever does it feels they have absolutely no chance of winning against my superior tactics and gunplay.. :D
