Why Should I Go To The Apartments?

Recommended Posts

(Here are the apartment buildings i'm talking about: http://i.imgur.com/UTlSWya.jpg)

I am curious, every time I head to them they always spawn nothing or a few cans of beans. Does anyone ever find anything good in there, is there a reason we should even bother looting them?

EDIT: I also loot the tall 10 story, and smaller apartments.

NOt in SA, currently.

They were often a stop for me in the mod as they had a wide range of low level gear. Pistols and clothing, backpacks, that sort of thing. Never found a ghillie suit there though they spawned there.

Anyway, in standalone, no point at the moment. Presumably, when they get all of the loot table fun worked out, there will be a reason to climb the deathtrap stairs.

I don't waste my time by looting the 5 story buildings since they never spawn anything. But try looting the higher building blocks, they spawn weapons and ammo. 1 whole building has usually at least 2 ammo stacks, pretty good amount of food and sometimes a rifle.

Chapaevsk has a nice cluster of garage buildings on the northern edge, nice loot spawns there.

Its pretty random in my experience. When SA released I found random things in them including backpacks, but now its mainly a random food item in a first floor kitchen and sometimes a medkit on a higher floor, but never ammo or clothing. Go and have a ganders fer yerself.

I once took the time searching all of them and the most items I found where water bottles and medikits... sooo... not really worth it^^

Not really worth it plus FPS can suffer greatly in there.

Still nice spots to snipe from I guess, especially those that are near police station.

Melee weapons, canned food, watter bottles, and medical kits can spawn on top of the AC Units on the top of the apartments like that in Berezino.

The apartments are the best place to "hook-up" illicit substances/items.. just look for the shady guy standing out front, usually off to the side. He should mention what he has quietly if you walk up to him..

If you want to collect sniper ammo then the council estates (UK term, I'm guessing the US would call them projects, the EU would just call them housing) North of Cherno are the perfect place. Sadly that ammo will be embedded in you.

Joking aside, there is gear to be had, but it's a bit too much effort to get to it imo. The supermarkets are easy enough to get to and there is a tech building, but other than that there is a lot of climbing for very little return.
