igor-vk 909 Posted March 5, 2014 Ok, hunting and cooking are close. Maybe on next update. What are your thoughts about that. What animals and how many will spawn? And where? There are lots of feeding places acros the map. How fast will they be and from what distance will they hear or see us. How many bullets will take to kill a deer? MuchHigher 65 Posted March 5, 2014 I'm going to assume it is more or less like the mod. There will be wild animals like deer/rabbits/boars in the woods. It normally took 1 shot I believe. horrorview 56 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) I don't know if hunting is "close", as what Rocket showed in the dev video was a WIP, and he also said they'd just brought on four new people whose specialty was hunting games. I think we're going to see cooking (in its early state) in the next experimental patch, but, from what I gathered from the dev blog, hunting was going to be a major deal, and have a whole bunch of "exciting" new mechanics to it. Maybe I misinterpreted it, but I think the hunting in SA will be vastly superior to (and more in-depth than) the mod. At least I hope so, as the mod's hunting wasn't so much hunting as it was walking up to a static animal and knocking it over with an axe. If there will be predador animals, will they chase you? If yes, for how long? Will there be any interactions between zeds and animals? In STALKER games series monsters and NPCs had advanced AI and there were diferent fights among them. If you were atacked by mutants, you could run from them in NPC outpost and watch them fight it. I'm thinking (and hoping) that the animal AI will be pretty smart after seeing that last DEV video. When hunting you'll really have to be careful not to scare your kill off. Wont be able to just run up and hack it up with your machete. :D That would be cool if shot placement had a factor too. Like if you don't hit the right spot and end up having to take follow up shots, you wouldn't get as much meat. Not sure how easy that would be though. But I am 100% sure it is not going to be as boring in the mod, cuz a whole team is working on only on the hunting aspect.
