The lag is real!

Has anyone been attacked by melee lately? Because even if the enemy is 10 meters away from you swinging into the air he still knocks you out unconscious. Why isn't this being fixed?

Yep, agreed.

It's also why when you're camping a corner and you dump twenty 5.56 rounds into a guy and he walks through them returning fire, killing you, only to fall dead himself five seconds later.

That is why camping is not Always a good idea, i usually move my ass and return fire when someone shoots at me. Battlestress is usually enough to let them disengage.

Camping a corner should be an extremely viable tactic forcing the assailant to take the chance moving into the building. No one's forcing him to enter. (;

Unfortunately, due to excessive lag/desync it's generally less than effective.

Ha, i was at nwaf 5 guys come round corner i take em all out 3 mins latter a guy is lagging around me, cant hit him he manages to take me out with a can opener

I got killed when i shot a guy at 5m away and with a blaze twice and then he falls down and then 5 bullets go into me from his M4. He didnt have a friend, was a lone sniper up in Chapevsk.

Must happened within the last hour or so, because, in the changelog for the new experimental patch:

This isn't really new, this exp patch has been out for over a week.

Ah...damn. Haven't tried to kill anyone with a can opener, just remembered to have it seen written in the announcements....sry, mixed it up :/

There's two things at work here; ping/lag and melee combat.

 

In regard to lag, I only play servers with a low ping (<50) although I appreciate that my ping is not static nor does it stop others with a high ping joining that server. I'd like to think that in the future high ping players will be kicked (in the same way it happens on mod server) so say you hit more than 200 for too long then off you go - will need to work out some way of integrating that with the logout timer though.

 

With the melee, I believe it will be revised, considerably.

Yes, once a guy swung me with a firefighter axe and I "dodged" it from far away and still got knocked out.
