KarmaCoin 72 Posted March 3, 2014 Identifying team mates during large PvP encounters is a problem me and my friends often run into. And sadly it usually results in me killing at least one of them :( Most well geared teams wear the same stuff and are hard/impossible to distinguish from one another. It would be nice if we could create and wear custom team armbands for identification. This seems like a tactic people would actually deploy in this scenario because combat is chaotic and disorienting. Nothing complicated, pick a primary and secondary color as well as an icon. Maybe make the armband craftable from rags.
MartinD (DayZ) 86 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Maybe make the armband craftable from rags.Yeah that would work and is believable in my opinion. Have the rag keep the colour of the item it was crafted from also. I dont like being able to choose a selection of colours and an icon though. I dont like being able to choose a selection of colours and an icon though. Not being able to choose a color somehow kinda defeats the purpose though because then everyone still ends up wearing roughly the same color. Adding a dye kit or something is acceptable if you think it breaks the immersion to much.
kichilron 8550 Posted March 3, 2014 Take your pants off. That way everybody in your team will know who the others are.

Eight Ball 26 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Would be greatI think the devs have said it will be possible to add markings on your guns and I kinda fail to see how that could be usefull. But armband or being able to write/paint (maybe through some sort of simplified paint interface) something on your shirt would be welcome in my opinion. KarmaCoin 72 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Yea, I'm not sure the markings on guns would be that helpful for identification either as a lot of the time not everyone even has a gun. But a simple single colored (of your choosing) armband would be incredibly helpful. I know some military units use these during war games to distinguish teams because they all wear the same uniform. Duenan 226 Posted March 3, 2014 great idea... This should be something that can be craftable with a rag and then painted with a can of spraypaint

cejota14 130 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a more complete character creation screen? so everyone would be more unique and then we could easily recognize friends
GDRocKStaR 1 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a more complete character creation screen? so everyone would be more unique and then we could easily recognize friendsI honestly don't see that being helpful. Are you really going to be looking for a beauty mark or soul patch on someones face for ID purposes? More variety would be nice and I'm not knocking your idea. I just don't think it's practical in combat.More variety of clothing would go a long way to help. Also communicating with your squad is paramount as you must know where friendlies are located. It's actually one of the most exciting parts of the game to me... Semper Fi!
KarmaCoin 72 Posted March 5, 2014 What about a more complete character creation screen? so everyone would be more unique and then we could easily recognize friends The problem with this is that once your character is fully geared you wont be able to see any of the character details like hair, tattoos etc. More variety of clothing would go a long way to help. There is a quite a lot of variety in the clothing already but every one ends up wearing mostly green because it provides the best camouflage.Keeping track of your buddies works until bullets start flying and suddenly this happens: I think craftable colored arm bands makes total sense. gannon46 788 Posted March 5, 2014 or maybe if they added more colors of sparaypaint we could just spray paint a band on the shirt we wear then at least if you change clothes you'd have to respray or with ductape u could paint it and it does come in a variety of colors in real life. I'd prefer if it was crafted from rags because they are easy to come by. As for how you color it, spray paint would only work if they added a lot more colors. It'd be easier on them to just add a dye kit that allows you to dye it to a color of your choice.

I'm all for the armbands, they could be crafted by "clans only" (see the link) but if it was on the game...I'd go with medium dreadlocks, leather jacket, thight skirt, biker boots and a bandana...I like roleplaying more than camouflage...plus one Mosin's bullet to the face will kill you anyway
Kenny Kyle 138 Posted March 5, 2014 this makes sense. but you have a bad time when the other team have the same color.you cant count on that we use tactical formations and every of my friends have a favorite headgear.im the guy in the middle with the green bandana.friend one is on the left with the cowboy hat.friend two is on the right with a black motohelm.no backpacks in elektro and airfields. when we are more than three dudes:one fire-team with mosins(or magnum) and one attack-team with M4s(or pistol). (brothers in arms style) ;)
KarmaCoin 72 Posted March 6, 2014 plus one Mosin's bullet to the face will kill you anyway Which is exactly why everyone wheres camo :) this makes sense. but you have a bad time when the other team have the same color.you cant count on that Bound to happen eventually but that's what makes it realistic. Teams that are good at communicating and staying together (like yours) might even try to intentionally wear the same color as another team they spot to confuse the enemy. we use tactical formations and every of my friends have a favorite headgear.im the guy in the middle with the green bandana.friend one is on the left with the cowboy hat.friend two is on the right with a black motohelm. This is exactly what my team wears as well... so you can see the issue.
