Will We Ever Be Able To Have At Least 40 FPS In Cities and Everywhere

Recommended Posts

I get 60 minimum (single player and multi player on ultra settings) FPS in Arma 3, and 25 minimum (in Elektrozavodsk, maximum settings) FPS in DayZ:SA.

In coop or PvP missions? Because 60 fps minimum in multiplayer is insane.

Well, you have a pretty good PC, so ofc you arent having trouble running this game mate.

But we cant all have the newest i7's and expensive GTX700 series cards tbh, it needs to run "well" on recommended requirements and it doesnt atm.

I am confident it will though, but its far into the future tbh.

Well, 40 fps in cities with this Computer is still a joke ;-)

You don't need to. I have a i5 3570 w/ a AMD HD 7850 2gb, and 8GB of RAM.

Still a pretty good PC, but I'm getting the exact same kind of FPS.

How are you getting 40fps in city and 60 elsewhere? I have an AMD FX-8350, dual HD 7950s with 16gigs of ram, and I get anywhere from 15-30 in cities, with anywhere from 20-60 elsewhere. (120+ looking straight into sky xD

Unfortunately, cities in RV Engine games cause very high CPU loading which isn't shared very well across physical cores and the engine doesn't make use of logical/HT cores.

All of which favours the unlocked i5 and i7 CPUs at the moment.

I also have heavily modified the Day Z Data. I get 50-60 FPS by the shore, 30-35 FPS in Kamyshovo/Big Towns, Cities/BigCities are 25-35 FPS. I hope they could fix FPS and I will not have to edit my files.

That's why.

I'm also not playing in 1080p, due to having an older monitor. I could check the frame rate using my TV if you wanted though.

Please, we need better FPS everywhere, I hope we will one day be able to not lag in cities or big towns.

I do get 40 fps in cities...

Maybe you need a beefier rig haha

Later on down the road, when more optimizations come to DayZ SA, fps rates will surely go up. Game optimization is not exactly a #1 priority atm, nor should it be. Sure I would love to have killer, insane fps everywhere I go ingame.. but for the time being, there are many other things being worked on. Obviously.

Patience.. it'll come. Just not as soon as you may like. :)

I get around 40 in the city with it maxing out at 60 elsewhere. If they can up that number, it would be nice but it is on the bottom of the list of things I think that need optimization.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

Intel Core i7-4770K @ 4.5GHz

8GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-1600

nVidia GeForce GTX770 2GB GDDR5

I can't wait for all the people with minimal settings in .cfg files to show up telling us how they get 80fps in Cherno.

Enabling Vsync will do exactly this.

I enable this to prevent frame tearing as I look around using TrackIR.

Mid 30s in Cities, 40-50 in or looking towards Towns/Villages and 60 fps in the woods/looking at the sky.

I've found the last experimental, or driver update, has put a stop to all my lagging in cites I was running about in the apartment complexes and had no issues like I normally do, maybe they addressed that in .42

That's why.

Little harsh, the 8350 is hardly a bad chip. Granted it's Bulldozer, rather than the better Vishera, but it should still be able to deliver 40FPS dependent on the kit around it.

btw, in regard to FPS, I use a (Vishera) 8320, a 7770 and have 16Gb or RAM. All at stock speeds and the RAM is cheap (and thus slow) and it seems to depend on the DayZ build how good my framerates are. I run at 1600x900 and with a lot of the eye candy off, but that's more a legacy from the original releases. I used to optimise with every build that is released but it seems to change with every one, sometimes I'll get 40+ sometimes 20+. Ultimately I've stopped bothering and I'll wait until they have a settled client with some level of optimisation before going to town with it.

The game lags bad now.  You cant see your inventory items when you drop them for two fucking minutes on full servers,  how the fuck are we gonna have vehicles?    In cities?   Jesus, this game is fucked.   If Bohemia does not sell the concept of DayZ to a more talented group of developers, we are truly fucked and this game will get canned.

I can get ~30 in the cities with cfg modifications on this rig (on current experimental)

So if your compy is better then this, perhaps review your settings.

I wouldn't recommend buying above computer unless you have the cash for upgrading it, in which case just buy a better one.

1920x1080, Vsync disabled, everything on very high, all effects enabled/very high, the lowest I drop is 25 while fighting in a city. I'd say I average 35-40.

However, in a city, the game doesn't even use 40% of my GPU/CPU. Doesn't make sense.

You just want attention, if you want that, go play Call of Duty.

Stop being a moron, the guy is just trying to help people.

Not meant to be harsh, just pointing out what's holding his PC back. When I built this PC is looked VERY hard at the 8350 and 3570 and although the i5 didn't always come out on top, when it did it came on top significantly. The RV engine always has performed better with improved CPU specs. GPU specs helped for view distance/quality but didn't help when a lot of "stuff" was going on.

Your rig, his rig, and my rig are all going to be "close" in real world performance on a polished, finished product. In a game under development like Dayz, you're going to see a best improvement in performance with raw processing power because, like you said, it's not optimized yet. This is why you see the guys with i7's or OC'd i5's with extremely good FPS rates. I'm a AMD guy myself, but Intel has the best chips out there right now.

This. When I run my CPU at the stock 3.4GHz, I literally lose 10 frames per second as opposed to the overclock in my signature. I have two graphics cards in SLI that are three years old and I'm still pumping out the frames. It's mostly CPU related.

Overclocking did sod all for me unfortunately, and does SLi even work yet in DayZ?

What kind of numbers were you hitting? You'll need at least a 30% increase to notice anything. I messed around with it one day and didn't notice a difference until hitting 4.6GHz. I tried 4.2GHz, 4.4GHz, 4.6GHz, 4.8GHz, and then 5.0GHz. I stopped at 5.2GHz because my voltage was getting pretty close to the limit that I was comfortable with. C stepping ftw.

I only bothered going from 3.3 to 4.0 (21%) and left it there.

Yeah it still suffers the same GPU utilisation problem according to that link.

I got a PM from Orlok that they're actually going to hard cap the FPS at 5 for everyone.

If you shoot your guns, your Steam account will be charged 3 dollars for every hit but 10 dollars per miss.

So to answer your question, no, we're doomed so we should play another game like the critically acclaimed Infe--- *gets stabbed by Dean*
