Irish. 4886 Posted February 28, 2014 Don't call an M-16 an "Assault Rifle". "Assault" implies that you intend on committing the crime of assault on someone else with that rifle. Assault can be applied to anything if it is used in an assault. For instance, a bat is a bat, a bat used in an assault becomes an assault bad. If you want to call it anything, call it a semi-auto rifle, a rifle, a gun, an ANYTHING other than an "assault" rifle. In reality the M-16/M-4/AR-15 is a "5.56mm, magazine fed, gas operated, air-cooled, semiautomatic, handheld, shoulder fired weapon." I was in the Corps too, but I think a stark difference does need to be made between a clip (stripper clip) and a magazine. Especially when you have both readily available. A clip for an M16 is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH different than a magazine for an M16. If I need a magazine for an M16, but I ask for a clip I am SOL getting rounds down range. To put it in the games perspective, if someone asks for a magazine I'm going to give them a magazine for the M4; conversely, if someone asks for a clip I'm going to give them an SKS stripper clip. The reason words exist is to describe things and communicate ideas to another person. If I call the color red, blue you would be completely confused when I say "hey he's behind that blue building!" When that RED building is no where near the guy trying to kill us. We define words so that everyone knows that they mean, if you start changing that definition, no one will understand what you mean. Wonderful. But this is a forum, and when kids post in forums and those who have no prior experience like you and I have had, then I feel its not our job to "correct" them.. I mean thats fine if you want to take that under your wing, but really.. it is not important. Its not like they are using this outside of the game in real life. Now if you hear a person who has just asked you for more ammo, ask for a clip.. correct them. But if you come across someones comment in a thread, well.. let that go. Life is too short to care about little things like that. Again, though to each their own and if you feel the need to correct people when they make grammatical errors and technical mistakes on terminology then best of luck to you. Also, thank you for your service! 'Rah!

hells high 676 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Wow this thread got out of control. Here's a video you crazies might enjoy. Either way I'm sure I've heard it somewhere that they will be doing craftable dual mags. Although, with the current animations I can't see it really being much of a benefit (unless they don't fix the fact that it can shoot all 60 rounds without swapping in between, which I imagine they will fix). rybec 339 Posted November 21, 2014 Keep in mind some most of these players/posters are civilians who have not fired a weapon outside of a video game. I was actually curious about that and made a poll a while ago. You'd be surprised. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/209941-have-you-ever-used-a-firearm-or-own-any/Out of 71 people so far, only 12 have never handled a firearm before. Keeping proper terminology is important though. Letting that kind of thing slide allows people to mislabel other parts of firearms like "shoulder things that go up" and thinking parts have different purposes than what they actually serve. Well, you've got the barrel, the bit in the middle and you've got the... buttstock? The bit in the middle has a grip, a magazine clippy thing and a slidey slidey bullet casing hole. Oh, and the trigger.
