Goodbye Dayz

Recommended Posts

Goodbye!

It has been a lovely time with you, but i see nothing more than getting hurt over and over again.

Not that you are not challenging enough, it's simply  your residents are not able to play on a human level.

Why do I have to get shot, when I wave at somebody and loud and understandable  say "Friendly! Hello!"?

They are the reason why it does not even make fun anymore to spend time with you.

I know, it's not your fault, but as long as this does not change we have to split.

I realy hope in an real apocalyptic scenario, the people come to value life more. And that there are much less guns.

So... Goodbye!

See you when you got privat hives. Otherwise there will be no future for us.

with love

Miles

Because the game being alpha has everything to do with people killing him on sight.

You know what? The next time I see a player, and they say something like "FRIENDLY!", "ARE YOU FRIENDLY?", or "PRESS F2! PRESS F2!", I will shoot them on the spot. Not for the pleasure, not because that's what my character just "does", but for ONE REASON:

YOU ARE SCREWING WITH MY IMMERSION! Never mind the fact that the game is still in alpha, that many features aren't implemented yet. Never mind that KOS is RELEVANT to the game, and is a legitimate form of roll play. The game can STILL be fun because of the way it sucks me in. And when I am traveling down the road, LOOKING for player interaction, and the first words out of your mouth are to tell me to press a GOD DAMNED BUTTON on my key board, you are snapping me back to reality, RUINING the experience for me! Or shouting "FRIENDLY!" over direct. It makes me WINCE. WHO THE HELL would do that in a real, apocalyptic scenario?

SO GET STABBED! IN THE BRAIN! WITH BULLETS! YOU WHINERS WHINE ABOUT KOSERS AND WANTING "INTERACTION", BUT NOT A ONE OF YOU UNDERSTANDS PROPER ROLL PLAY!  You don't have to get all "serious" about it. Just use a little intelligence and verbal WIT and leave out key words that are immersion breaking like "press (button)", or "player" or "log in". Do you want interaction???? Or are you here for social fucking networking?!?!?!

So I ask you: which of these two scenarios is more realistic, relevant, and "proper" roll play?

#1 You and I pass each other on the road, wave, shout "friendly", then agree to team up and go "loot" NWAF together, all the while talking about combat loggers, our RL problems, school, etc.

#2 I am following a road, off to the side of it, moving efficiently and deliberately from cover to cover. Up ahead I see a well equipped person. They are wearing a lot of military clothing, and are carrying a lot of firepower. This person poses a SERIOUS potential threat to me. They MIGHT not be hostile, but I don't know that. I could stay hidden, but he might spot me as he passes by. No, better to play it safe. I crouch in the tall grass to stabilize my shot, put the rifle firmly in my shoulder. I rest my cheek on the smooth wood of the buttstock, attain a good eye relief on my LRS, and line up the reticule. I take a few deep breaths to calm my heart rate (and my nerves), then breathe out slowly. As the air is leaving my lungs I smoothly and slowly, so slowly, OH so slowly pull the trigger to the rear. It seems to take forever to come back to the point of releasing the hammer, but an accurate shot depends on proper trigger control. Further and further back it goes. I start to wonder how much further it needs, it feels like ive already pulled it back a mile. How much long!!!!!!!BANG!!!!!!. The hot lead screams out of the barrel chased by superheated gasses, knifing through the air and wind to impact on the target's skull, mushrooming against it even as the skull shatters, flattening out as it smashes its way through masses of neurons and dendrites, lobes and oblomgatas, tearing apart the very fabric of that person's....person, destroying more and more of him as it moves through his brain.

He drops like a sack of bricks. I quickly run and check him for any chance of survival, and also to briefly rummage through his belongings. I take what I need, and leave. Quickly.

Because "friendly" isn't a magic spell. Just because you're friendly doesn't mean the other guy is...

To be killed on sight you have to be seen. Try changing the way you play, not other people. It's a lot easier.

I had multiple encounters where people would yell "friendly" at me, then proceed to shoot at me as soon as I lowered my gun.

Fuck friendlies, and fuck your "friendly" tactics and shit.

I DO team up with unknown people. Just not when they run towards me screaming "FRIENDLY".

I team up with people who make sense in the game like when I was entering Elektro and I encounter this guy who says "Are you going to kill me?", I respond "Probably not", and we both teamed up and looted Elektro.

Well... my experience has shown me just to don't trust anybody. I switched from "ask questions first, decide what to do later" to "avoid making contact" and if that does not work: "Shoot on sight!"

Basic survival for me now...

I guess I will "roll" play a troll then.

plenty of bridges in chernarus to hide under. Go for it.

*yeah, so, I know that the proper term is "ROLE PLAY". but the damn auto correct on my pc changed it. Big deal. What is it with people on the internet always being grammar/spelling nazi's.....

EDIT:

Oh yeah, and since you apparently DID read the post, and did so carefully enough to pick out a spelling error, your troll is now a fail DOUBLY so.

The game is about SURVIVAL against all odds (other people included). I know this is a sandbox game, and by principle there is no "right" way to play, but you obviously are doing the SURVIVE part wrong.

If you want to play the "friendly" way, learn to talk to people the right way.

I KoS people because I don't trust them, but there were a few players out there who knew how to gain that trust in 1-2 proper sentences and behaviour.

"I realy hope in an real apocalyptic scenario, the people come to value life more. And that there are much less guns."

I SINCERLY doubt it.

Go to Detroit and, especially, the surrounding suburbs. Or any "ghetto" city. Gang violence runs rampant in many places throughout the world. And there aint no apocalypse.

And as to less guns? SHIT no.

My house alone has 9 of them. And plenty of ammo for each.
