Two bolt action rifle features we should have.

Recommended Posts

I don't know if these are planned for future updates, but there is two things the Mosin 9130 and other future bolt action rifles should have.

1. The ability to load ONE round at a time by pressing R. It would be significantly slower than loading 5 at a time through the inventory screen, but it would be good in a pinch so you could keep an unobstructed view on your target.

2. STRIP CLIPS! Its probably already a work in progress, but the Mosin needs a strip clip. Opening the inventory and dragging the rounds to the gun is clumsy and dangerous as it obstructs your view. If you don't have one, you can use the aforementioned single round chambering mechanic.

I don't know, I think it would be cool :D

How about the ability to hold a spent cartridge in the chamber? Make a shot, sneak away, then remove the spent shell in safety.

Meh idk, that ability would be more useful for follow-up shots than it would be for sneaky shell dispensing. I mean once I fire that damn thing everyone in the world is gonna know where I am so Idk what the point is to hold off on the ejection of the case

Yeah. Plus, what would be the point? It's not like someone will find the brass and then CSI: Chernarus forensic the casing and then charge you for murder.

One thing I think bolt action rifles need is the ability to hold off clearing the chamber. When firing shots at a distant target, the automatic clearing makes it impossible to see where the shot landed. Other games (like Red Orchestra) allow you to delay that action by holding down the fire button.

Maybe there should be seperate comand for repeating action. Or to chose that with "change rate of fire" comand.

I think merely holding don't the left mouse button after firing (or whatever button you assign to fire) would be simplest. Click it to have it act as it does now, or click and hold it to fire but delay clearing the chamber. That way nothing changes for those who don't need the change, and there's less fumbling for those who do. That's they way it works in other games (Red Orchestra, Battlefield), and it's quite intuitive.

For number 2, the mosin currently uses the wrong kind of ammo, developing stripper clips for the wrong kind of ammo would be quite silly...

but yeah, i would not mind stripper clips, if they have any use for a 7.62x51 stripper clip beside the mosin.. mosin should use 7.62x54, and matching stripper clip.

This.

Also, can we update the weapon toggling? As of right now I find it nigh impossible to figure out if I'm in semi-automatic or not using the M4A1. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The only way to tell if it worked is to unfortunately shoot a couple of bullets, thus eliminating the element of surprise you're attempting to take advantage of by sniping.

Even something as simple as using free look to look at your gun in fist-person and seeing what the fire selector is set to.
