Another Use for Your Backpack

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I was thinking that maybe when your character is prone you could right click your backpack and you would have a new option:

"use backpack as a bi-pod" or something along those lines.

Then, animation or not you would use your backpack to rest your rifle on to steady your aim.

It would give you slightly less accuracy then an actual bi-pod, but still very effective.

What do you all think?

It may work well with this idea I had too.

PS: I love how the search function is now tied to creating a new post!

       Great feature!

I don't think any kind of rest would give less accuracy than a bipod since it's the user who puts the most motion into his platform unless you are using a buddy as a gunrest. But unlike IRL where the guy tends to move and twitch the ingame counterpart is rock solid so that's the least of your problems.

And here i thought you could take a small backpack and collect water or use it as a toilet and leave it for another player to find....but here we go again looking for an easier way to shoot other players...

I agree, but if your packpack was as good as a bi-pod, then there would be no reason for a bi-pod.

Or you could be able to use sticks and rope/rags to craft a makeshift bipod.

Or put a server reset countdown into the game.

But with your plan what happens if you don't pick it up?  If you walk away is it still linked?  That would be a great way for people to stash stuff.  OOO and shooting could ruin things in your bag, the rifle smacked against your damaged waterbottle and broke it now your bag is soaked and that powedered milk and rice are ruined, and the can opener is now rusty and damaged, and the ammo is all ruined because the gun power in the cheap russian surplus ammo got drenched because the cases weren't roll crimped at the original factory.

You don't usually pack a backpack just to use as a bipod right? Any rest like a wall or the hood of a car or a branch of a tree are as good as any kind of rest. Imo it's just a matter of what's available atm and if you really have time to deploy the bipod.

Edit: Googled a bit and found out that when the M40 was used they couldn't fit a bipod due to the missing sling swivle so the shooters used a backpack to rest their weapons. Seems like when bipods became more popular and more available a lot more shooters were using them.

Can't disagree with that!

I do think they are working on a system where you can actually rest it on anything. Considering the ACE guys managed to do it it shouldn't be impossible on Standalone. :)
