Is server hopping for lots of loot possible?

Recommended Posts

Greetings Survivors! I'm pretty new here and got a little question: Since I just almost starved to death until I finally found a hot spot for food (at least it is marked as such on the database map) and gave me some cans of food, I asked myself, if it is possible to log out and log on another server in at the exact same big building which I can then search for food again (to finally get out of that hunger status)?

The place is marked with 3 big blue circles (for food, as the database says), so it would be a high chance to find sth there on a new (other) server?

Some play for the experience, others for the loot.

By the question itself I'm going to assume that you've just recently started playing. It would probably be better to just start on a mid-populated server play there for a while, get to know the lay of the land, then progress to higher populated servers when you feel that you know where you can find certain things and know the geography a little bit more.

However, on topic - yes it is possible to change server from one server to another. As other people have said, it's not very popular - people do it none the less. People play the 'game' (using the term loosely since it's alpha) differently, some people just want to pvp, some want to explore some playing styles probably promotes server hopping more than other styles of playing. Logging out from the game, places your character in-game for 30 seconds - so you're pretty much a free kill, and there's a spawn timer that kicks in as well, if you change servers too quickly.

Ok, thx for the answers.. Dont worry, I wasn't going to use it as my standard strategy, it just sucked that I had a very desperate time finding food while I was actually quite well equipped. So in this case, I did it once to ensure I can finally just "stray on" through the land without too much worries about food since I'm now finally green there

Have a look at this video for a better understanding of how to keep your energy and hydration levels up. As for server-hopping, you may already know but you get a spawning cooldown if you change servers too quickly, from 30-300 seconds depending on how long you stay on each server (cooldown is minimum after 30min on server).

It's very possible, but bring a good book if you do it more than once, as you'll have to wait for login on a new server, unless you played for 30 minutes on the previous one.

Server hopping is frowned upon, but I'm not judging anyone for doing it until loot respawn is in.

But its worries like food that make the game interesting... Today i died for the first time in 49 hours of play (died before but this was my longest living character) i was completely geared more ammo than i knew what to do with been hanging around zelengorsk  nice spot fair traffic but to be honest i had gotten bored so i charged the streets of berezino going on a gun crazed suicide mission only got 4 people before a sks guy took me down..

I dont usually KOS but it just felt time to die... I respawned and the server had 36 players and had been up for 2 hours.. Honestly what happened next was more fun than the last 40 or so . Starving under geared dodging bullets running wild through the cities barely scraping enough food to stay out of the yellow hunger...

It was tense as all hell at the end had basic gear and a blazer rifle before i finally decided to leave the coast from my adrenaline run i should have done it sooner but its hard to let go when you have pulled a character through so many close scraps..

TL DR its the struggle thats half the fun...

5 min wait is not really that long lolz. Tbh, there's no real need to continually do server hoping. Just go one ONE empty or very little populated and hit up one the major towns or military base and you should be good to go. And, when you think about it, waiting 5 minutes is not nearly as long as running to the airfields from any major city
