bioned 36 Posted February 22, 2014 please, this topic is not a troll if you think it is, go bash your head against the wall really hard and go to sleep so the next update features 100 ppl servers and more rocks and optimization thats great (optimization is always great!) but sometimes I think zombie issues should come before rocks and 100 ppl servers falling thru floors happened to me a billion times so im pretty used to it but zombies flying high and hitting you from a miles away and ignoring walls should be prioritized after all, DayZ is a zombie survival game and I don't think zombies do what ironman does...

GrappleX 354 Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) Just because certain features are being implemented doesn't mean zombies aren't being worked on. I would assume improving zombies is quite difficult, and any fixes would be in small steps. Much as it is an amusing thought to picture rocket alone in a room surrounded by 20 monitors, madly scrambling from screen to screen to fix bugs and add stuff, I doubt thats the case. The dev team can multi-task. Edited February 22, 2014 by GrappleX
Crooked Hauser 258 Posted February 22, 2014 Whoa... For a second there it sounded like you were questioning his Rocketness. I must have misunderstood your post.
OrLoK 16188 Posted February 22, 2014 Hello there Zombies/Infected ARE a priority, but there's much more work to do on them so they wont appear "fixed" for some time. There you go, all done. Rgds LoK
enforcer1975 1111 Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) Watch his streams, he talks about those issues. And that's what he keeps doing. In the year before the alpha they already said they fixed the zombies but where was the result? I think he has a contract with Magpul otherwise he wouldn't have brought the M4 with alternative Magpul parts and made those the best to get. I'm pretty sure he already lost his objectives. I think Rocket is secretly on the take from companies that make hiking gear, that is why there aren't vehicles in the game yet.
CrazyCorky 40 Posted February 22, 2014 Also as they add in new things other things get broken. So I'm guessing that's what's going on.
Iowa23 12 Posted February 22, 2014 Zombies, their lameness and pathing (not to mention 'glitching' through walls by players and zombies alike) are all massive tasks. If the sa is anything like the mod zombies will not be a major issue in game till you get a herd on your camp site :) or in the town you intend on looting, so i would'nt care, or expect this to get any better any time soon. herrjon 478 Posted February 22, 2014 It isn't just rocket working on the game. It's a dev team. The folks working on zeds and animations and such are working hard, but you may not see updates on the public servers until they get a full working model they're happy which. In the meantime the other folks can roll out their updates because that's the nature of what they're working on. Contrary to popular belief, the dev team does know what they are doing and are aware of the problems, especially the big ones like zeds. It'll come, just give it time.

I fail to understand how others fail to understand this. If I were putting a car together with a team of people and my task was to build the engine from scratch, while someone elses job was to simply paint a door, I'd be pretty pissed if they finished the paint job in 5 minutes and someone went, "OMG, you finished the door before the engine?! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!"
Rudette 435 Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) Fixing the Zombies is a multilayer project that is already in progress, that takes multiple teams with different specialties to accomplish:*Pathing AI Improvements*Server performance, for increased amounts of zombies on the map*Engine Optimization, for an enjoyable amount of FPS with said zombies.*New animations for navigating the environment*New models for different zombie types*New textures for those models*Gigantic painstakingly huge Chernarus-wide Navmeshes.*Stealth mechanic: Detection for the zombies*Stealth mechanic: Indicators and stealth system for the players. A project that big takes time. Edited February 22, 2014 by Rudette
kichilron 8550 Posted February 22, 2014 The thing about the Zombies is that the problems you're talking about aren't an easy fix. The reason they're phasing through walls is because they're nonexistent for them. Now - if you want to change that you would have to remap all buildings in Chernarus. Think about the sheer amount of buildings on the map and how much you would have to change to make it work? It is being worked on, I believe. It's just roughly a work for about six months to have it finished.
