No, no one can tell you the what the approximate % of females is in DayZ. No one on the forums anyway.

I don't remember if you have to register which gender you are when you create a steam account, but if you do - the only ones who could possibly answer that question somewhat correctly is someone handling statistics over at steam.

Its funny that most players think with there dicks before using there brains when they see an avatar of a person on this site. Im male 100% but sometimes there is no black and white lines between male and female per say.

I dont care what ppl say skill trees or character perks always draw you in deeper with the player experience. You can only go so fare with normal things before they get boring and have nothing to work towards.

So when do stats come in, I'll only want people with the best stuff in my groups?  Oh, and we'll need a DayZ armory so I can look players up and see if they are worthy.

Its like world of warcraft all over again.... >.> lmao

 

I love the game dont get me wrong but the elitism in that game is almost thicker than a knife can cut through sometimes.

If shooting ability is one such 'levelling' skill I fear fresh spawn killing will just increase, and If skills are not persistent across each 'life' then even more so.

If everything just resets on death there is potentially less deterrent to hax too.

But really it all depends how this gets implemented, and to what extent the levelling affects any skill.

As long as passive skills do not effect combat proficiency or movement then it's fine.

Reset after death? If he decides to make skill progression permanent, it will deter cheaters because most people will not want to lose hundreds of hours of compiled skills...Shit, I've been lobbying for this for months now

Permadeath is the only way to make skills interesting at all. If you don't lose them, then dying in the game is pointless.

 

Making guns more accurate as a skill is a bad idea. Promotes KoS.

Those skills mentioned,(repairing things) are things I will never need to use so I dont really care.

Making guns more accurate as a skill is a bad idea. Promotes KoS.

It would not be pointless. You would lose all your stuff just like you do now.

Deleting skills with character is something that WILL promote killing on sight because:

1. Players will be even more worried not to lose their character than they are now and so they will shoot anyone that might ever pose a threat.

2. A lot of people take pleasure in mentally hurting other players, the more pain they inflict, the bigger satisfaction they feel. It will hurt alot when your character that's been alive and accumulated for example 50 hours worth of skills, when it get's killed, trust me, it will hurt a lot more than now.

 

However, With my proposal in affect,  cheaters will be thinking over real hard  if they want to lose an account that's been collecting skills for months and months for example.

Cheaters will have scripts to give them max skills, and the game is only like 5 bucks from those same sites they bought said script from.

It's so much easier to discover cheaters that try to change skills, especially the ones that are time related, than the ones where they give thmselves esp or wallhack or  where they spawn loot into inventory.

They wont care if they get caught, its cheap to cheat on this game if thats the kind of thing you want to throw money at.

It would be easier to catch them.For instance, Having a 'skill' where you can equip a long range scope on a Mosin only if you've been carrying this gun for certain amount of hours in game. So, say you've been banned before and you make a new account and you want to be a sniper right away, you don't want to wait 50 hours ofc, and so you somehow script yourself a Mosin with a LRS. Well, a new account that is shooting this scoped weapon can now be easily noticed and then reported by other players too.

Character progression is a complete mistake to add to the game, ruins the entire DayZ formula and leaves it open to exploitation to the max..ugh.....

1. I've thought about that alot. I think it will force players to play more cautiously rather than shoot anything that moves (which seems to be what already happens). Also, there are going to be more cooperative elements in the game to encourage working together. I don't see it being a problem. I guess only time will tell.

    It sure will alright  :D Pretty sure that's the point. Dean has mentioned he wants death to be harsher. And you can practically nullify death if you have a friend who secures your gear for you while you run back to where you died. In other words, death isn't really a big deal at the moment in my opinion. This game is supposed to be about survival. It should be a huge deal when you die, currently it's not.

Should be interesting assuming there will be medical related stuff.  Would give us more of reason to protect the medic to the extent we do beyond our O- cows.  I just hope they don't screw it up, as I've seen plenty of skill systems flop.

 

Also, for the gender poll, I voted female because screw polls.

How about this.  There are books in the game that have no use at the moment.  Why not have some that you can learn us fall survival skills from?  I'M NOT ADVOCATING SKILLS LIKE MMO'S AND MORROWIND AND THE LIKE.  These skills you have to constantly use them to maintain them like you do in real life.  If you don't use them they fade back to there lowest lvl. So yes you can spam it on your friends, but that does not mean job done move on to the next one.

 

This would add another lvl to the game that might make you want to play it a bit longer, because at the moment once you are kited out that's it in the game nothing else to do other than PVP. Plus it might make you want to look after your avatar.

 

As for skills yes shooting and first aid would be ones that every one would want, but what would these skills do for you?

 

Well shooting, you learn from a book how to zero your gun, breathing and the like so know your weapons accuracy is slightly better. Then it gets more accurate every time you have a kill shot.  You have the biggest increases in accuracy at the start then that increase gets smaller the more accurate you are up till you are a sniper when it comes to shooting.  Also in the game you could have tools and targets to aid you in adjusting your sights making your gun more accurate quicker, but you need the shooting skill to do this no gains without it.  This way you get the biggest increase in accuracy on that gun.  You would have to do this for all your guns to make them that accurate. The down side to this would be the items you need to get, the waste of ammunition and you give your position away. And at the end of all this over time your gun looses its accuracy when you are not using it. So after some time you would have to re-zero them like in the real world.

 

The other thing that could be implemented is once you gain a high enough proficiency in that skill you can than teach other people the skill, but if you are taught the skill the increases in it are not as big to start off with. Although once you get to a certain point on that skill lvl the increases are the same as if you read the book and you also can teach other people when you get to the right skill proficiency. If you drop below the teaching lvl you can then no longer teach the skill.

 

I hope you get the idea on what I mean by skills now, because you can do similar things for first aid (eg decrease some ones healing time, slightly more blood given in a blood transfusion) and any thing else that would aid your survival within the game.  They are meant to make you slightly better than a bambi, but I would not want them to make it game changing. Plus the use it or loose it means spamming it does help, but you then have to use it to maintain it or it goes back to base lvl.

 

Lastly your skill lvl runs in the background you never know how good you are at it until you can teach it.  The only thing that you do know is a box telling you what skills you have learnt and what they do for you.

Today at least for Europe it is 3:1.

 

But I wanted some figures for DayZ, to test a theory i have.
