Demoth 366 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm really sorry, but you didn't respond, and it looked like you started to phaze through a wall and it scared me.... I thought you were vaulting out the wall to pull out your gun.... I'm.... I'm sorry.
Johnny Depth 167 Posted February 21, 2014 No worries, man. Killing people in the game is fine, just make sure they don't kill you back. No need to apologize to those that are not as good. DayZ natural selection.
nettles 396 Posted February 21, 2014 Killing people is not fine. Feeling guilty is human. Feeling fear is human. It is perfectly fine to protect yourself, but killing someone outright might not be the best answer. Did you even try to save him? I've found myself struggling with a lot of the choices I make in DayZ, It's the hours of work you've put into scratching together a meager existence only to have it threatened by someone who may or may not be a 12-year-old kid spoiled by games like CoD a bandit.

DayZ natural selection. Haha. It's not that. He just waved to me and I was talking to him and he didn't talk back. My experience is that when people don't talk or type as you communicate, they're eventually going to shoot you in the back (he was fully geared too). But still.... the fact he didn't seem to make any aggressive motions always causes me to have a twinge of actual true-to-god guilt for plugging them in the face, even if deep in my bones I know they probably would have shot me in the back. Gotta toughen up.

No, he was outright dead. As soon as he started to phase through the wall I opened up on his head. He was dead.
ChiefMasterKush 321 Posted February 21, 2014 WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE... ..I thought you were taking a break... and you're not only already back online. But KILLING people already. And even worse gloating about it on the forums... (no one cares if you kill someone for good reasons or bad reasons) This guy

And as for the break thing, I was just trying to meet someone in back of Balota to give them my gear. Whether you believe me or not, that's okay. I just thought I'd post something weird that happened and was unexpected for my last day for a little bit.

Because I kill someone's make-believe character in a video game, I'm somehow supposed to feel a certain way, and if not I'm immoral? ridiculous, imo
Johnny Depth 167 Posted February 21, 2014 I usually kill anyone I see, except the people in my team. We roll together, we dominate together.
Johnny Depth 167 Posted February 21, 2014 In fact, I am camping the coast right now with a magnum just waiting on people to run by. Feels good when they come by and get shot. I hope a guy with a gun runs by so I can ambush him!!
Target-UK 7 Posted February 21, 2014 If he was fully geared at the airfield and was still hanging around odds are he was looking for someone to kill... dont feel bad
Demoth 366 Posted February 21, 2014 If he was fully geared at the airfield and was still hanging around odds are he was looking for someone to kill... dont feel bad I usually don't feel bad. I just feel weird saying hello to someone, them waving, and then popping them in the face, even if I did mistakenly think they were using a cheat / exploit. My night ended well, however, because my one friend took my loot and another took that guys loot. I proceeded to just run up and down the airstrip naked until a group of three chased me down. They handcuffed me and one walked up to force feed me something, and suddenly his dome got popped by my friends hiding in the jail. I was gunned down but my friends took out the other two. The-MCV- 149 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) I've had people say hello then shoot me too. It becomes natural after several kills... meh, just a game. You can kill anyone you want, it's not hard to re equip yourself. Edited February 21, 2014 by DontGoToBalotaAlone

Because I kill someone's make-believe character in a video game, I'm somehow supposed to feel a certain way, and if not I'm immoral? ridiculous, imoI feel guilt and fear because we both spent time building ourselves. One misstep and everything we've worked for is gone. Someone could have spent days surviving- even weeks. Everyone has a unique story. As for other games, I assume you mean games like CoD or Battlefield- in those games, you don't have to worry about whether your character is well fed, you don't have to provide the clothes on their backs, and if you die, you respawn with the same gear you started with.
