Make DayZ more intense/more thoughtful

Recommended Posts

Getting rid of ammo will make the game really really boring. No one will shoot at anything, and all we will ever do is run, loot etc.

Not to mention it makes no sense.

There is waaay less ammo in the mod .. and everbody knows.. it works!

And come on guys.. carrying 2 boxes with 1200 shells and having 8x60-shot doublemags

is just ridiculous nonsense.. & besides poor gameplay that leads to (spaying ammo without thinking)

you would need a car to carry that amount of weight

btw. i was talking about LESS ammo, not close to none

and @MusabSurvivor

isnt´this happening allready for othewr reasons.. ?

also we ahve a lott of diffrent ammo so malkes no 100% sense

but with close to no ammo i would agree with yyyou

they need to make it so 5.56 guns need headshots to take out a zombie in one hit, bodyshots 2 and zombie need to get broken legs

if infected or zombies, imho only headshots should kill them..
bodyshots .. ? 15-20 maybe ?

What are you talking about. Have you played the mod recently?? PvP servers everywhere, KoS everywhere. Not to mention everyone runs round with DMRs. And you can very easily fill up with mags and bullets.

What we need is a bigger threat than people, namely zombies. If zombies swarm and kill you all the time, you are going to use your bullets on them, not people mostly.

Headshot should be instant kill. :P If they are going to put more Zombies in we need a more realistic zombie. Not that that they are real but more like the ones that we are used to. I don't know what do you guys think? :)

i thought about double tap for zombies. because,  humans can survive headshots. and if the zeds activity region in the brain was not hit, it wont kill it. you might also hit the chest and the zombie "dies" partially if you directly hit the spinal cord so the zed cant move its legs / arms. the devs need to implement zeds that can walk through buildings properly. then there should be more zeds per city. and at last zombie hordes that fu***** kill you if you dont shoot them. this would reduce KOS. if you can barely survive alone you do think about working with people. but problem is, bandits team up. but if there are more zeds in cities, if bandits shoot they gonna be wasted. this supports robbery which is a good game element. some KOS is to be tolerated because it is realistic.

The funny thing is, I save ammo rather for players that using it on zombies. Another player with a weapon can kill me 100 times faster than a zombie, so I rather want to prepared for that, than using my last bullets on a stupid zombie, which can be killed faily easy without bullets. So I don't think reducing ammo would have an effect on players killing each other, it will just make them use less ammo on zombies.

And if I go into areas with a lot of zombies I usually find enough ammo to use it on zombies too.

Nevertheless I support the idea with less ammo, because after looting an airfield I usually have so much ammo that I search for zombies just to kill them for fun.

This is going to happen...the weapons are in abundance to for the community to play test etc, find bugs...   maybe play skyrim for a bit while you wait.. I think I might ^_^

This is going to happen

You dont know that. I think weapons are way too common on the coast personally but who knows which direction they'll go.

Im sure they are planning something like this in beta, maybe towards the end in balancing things. Right now they want every player to be able to try out the gun, increasing the chances of finding bugs.

Iv always thought the people that love SA as it is now, and never played the mod, are in for a shock when balancing starts lol. Im all for lowering the weapon spawns, make them spawn in logical places aswell for natural PvP zones, lets hope the devs go that way :)

Well I wont go into detail but shit they will be alot more scarce later down the track then they are now, It seems kinda obvious I thought if you play the game too much.. so easy to find stuff.. after items  give it time I would say..

Agreed OP not only make ammo rare, but adjust ammo spawning based on the amount of ammo the players have in their possession + ammo already spawned.

The issue with most rare goods in games is that players will hoard them until they have enough of it to ignore that it's a rare commodity.

I wouldn't be surprised if no bullets would spawn for several days on servers.

I wouldn't say it seems obvious with what kind of weapons they are adding (amphibia s) and in any case its incredibly unrealistic. There was a war and a zombie epidemic, ammo would be EVERYWHERE if we went full realism. And again, if ammo was really really rare, the ones who had it would be virtually invincible and the game would be boring (no firefights at all).

There is a difference between a war and an apocalyptic setting. In war, ammo, food etc. is poured in by allies or those looking to gain something out of a war(looking at you bill clinton).

Apocalypse means the whole world is f**ked, economy is down everywhere. This means nothing is being made anymore, not even weapons. Although there might be heaps of weapons left over, the ammo would cease to exist within a year, especially in a zombie apocalypse.

And besides who said survival is fun, may i suggest arma, cod or battlefield for you?

No one would play the game if there was no fun in it. You do not realise the amount of ammo produced in the soviet union, Also, there was a war before the apocalypse, shown in the arma 2 campaign. Do some research before you tell me to play something else, i never suggested that they should be ammo everywhere, i am just saying that making it that scarce would be bad.

This game has nothing to do with arma. Its a standalone. I just suggested didnt tell you to go play something else.

ammo would be EVERYWHERE

Not getting into argument with you, i value your ideas, but why would scarce ammo be a bad idea? Because it would force bandits and kosers to actually use rest of the map? Edited by ld-airgrafix

Too arcadey. Besides, people could simply leave their ammunition/gear on another server, leave and go hoard ammo from some empty server and then come back and voila! Double ammunition. It would simply increase the gap between the ammo hoarders and completely defenseless.

Ammo should just be rare overall, but not to the point where no one could find ammunition for days on end (On an entire server in every loot spawn)

I have been playing 7d2d lately, actually prefer it over dayz atm. Since the last update it seems they have reduced weapon spawning, i have played for hours and only found one handgun so far, its a real struggle to loot buildings with only 4 bullets and 20 zombies per building. I cant even begin building a fort due to constant looking for food. This is what i expected from dayz when i purchased it.

Problem is, rarity this makes adding stuff like basebuilding and vehicles damn near pointless.

There's stuff that point to arma 2's campaign (chedaki berets, blown up IFVs etc)

I'm not sure it would force people to explore other places, just continually server hop NW or balota for a single mag.

the game is already intense and thoughtful, it depends who is playing it.

of course as more mechanics are introduced, there will be more options that will increase the options and playability

But the whole point of the game is to struggle against the environment and other players, otherwise they would have just added an ingame store like warz did and h1z1 is. Its about looting that building with 10 zombies (i wish) outside and you only have 1 bullet, but you are also starving. Do you attack the other player who might have lots of food but he also has an m4 and u have a rusted knife.

If they lock your character to a server, that removes server hopping.
