Rust

Recommended Posts

I know we already have conditions that can affect our guns , but now that we have rain (and lots of it ) I was thinking we should also have our weapons rust (metal weapons ) .

After a long time if you survive on one character (or just keep that weapon ) the weapon would be rusted and eventually just break , so even though you're taking care of it after all your battles it will still rust .

Of course there's ways to combat rust so there would be some new item added to use on your gun before you go into the rain (protectant) and a cleaner to use if your gun Is already a little rusted (CLR lol?). Lemme know what you think / if its too much or unrealistic .

I'm down for this. You can already find the Weapon Cleaning Kits and I think they should be reuseable for cleaning your weapon all the time, rather than just used to upgrade the condition.

Weapon Cleaning Kit = removes and protects from rust. Cleans barrel to restore accuracy after you've put a bunch of rounds through. General maintenance. Kit works forever.

Weapon Upgrade/Repair Kit = Upgrade the status from whatever it is to the next level (excluding Pristine). Single use.

CLP

And a weapon will never rust if you take proper care of it.

Never.

Weapon cleaning oil is very aggressive stuff. It feels like it's disolving your fingernails and skin, and it probably is.^^ You could swim in sea water regularly and a weapon would not rust if you clean it afterwards.

But even without cleaning it, it would take rust a very long time for rust to have a serious effect on the weapon. Most are made of stainless steel, aren't they. Think of all the weapons of WWII that are found lying underground for 70 years. They are also in a "relatively" good condition. (Well you probably don't see much of those if you're from the US or else ;))

Rust surely is not the main reason for cleaning a weapon on a daily basis. It's dirt that gets into the barrel and into the mechanics.

Damn that's rough , I'd love to see 15 day-survivors with rusty ass guns cuz of the rain ...

But for all you gun cleaners/ owners out there , say you were in an apocalypse and suddenly couldn't clean that h&k every week anymore . If this were to happen and you were always running in the rain (and even spending hours in the rain ) for a good few months straight with no constant shelter it would really never rust ?

I truly have never owned a fire arm so I couldn't say , but I would Really like to see this , or more of a gun cleaning system cuz it feels like guns right now are just too invincible (aside from a magnum that became randomly ruined when I opened my inventory once ) .

I fully agree, but what I see now, is that all my weapon are pristine condition. It doesn't want to break at all. When DEVs will fix that, I really hope they will make visual signs of rust etc. As it already is made for clothes.
