Loot respawning?

I think loot shouldn't respawn, why would items magically respawn? If I see a town with opened doors, first thing that comes to my mind is: looks like someone has already been here but I better check out if there are buildings where he didn't go to. And if the town has been looted empty I should make my way to the next town... because that's what would happen in real life...

 

Loot respawning would make the game boring and too easy. Please leave the system as it is now, if loot would respawn everyone would have all the endgame gear with ease. Also the point of the game is survival, so why should one get anything if I get the stuff before him. Next time they have to be faster than me.

I disagree.

 

Why would there only be 1 jacket and a couple of other sundry items per house?

 

If the game were realistic, which it is not, nor will it ever be fully. Every house would have far more clothes, food. Not to mention that every house would also have a fucking can opener!

 

I'd agree with you if the houses spawned a realistic level of loot, but they don't and I don't think they ever will. Thus respawning loot is the way to go.

 

It's either that or just encourage server hopping forever.

..but I'll bite.  225KM2.  That's why items would magically respawn.  It's that or server restarts every 1-4 hours or server hopping.

Would you rather have a mad dash towards the military buildings whenever there is a server restart, only to find the server empty shortly after?

I have heard that they are planning, for the final product, to have NO server restarts (unless updating or maintenance, etc.), so respawning loot is a must... unless you want every server to be picked clean in a matter of a day

Currently, with servers restarting every 4hrs or so. I dont mind the loot not respawning. But once the servers start to last longer hours, then every 4hr loot respawn sounds like a sweet spot.

But There will never be loot if it never respawns.

 

it has to,but it only does so after a restart (right?)

I mean, one of the best feelings in this game is when you enter an unlooted place and it's ALL YOURS :3 But if you get loot from every place you enter what would be fun in that?

 If u ever played on a server beeing up for more than ~2h with 30+ ppl, there are no places like that... if u restart on a crowded server atm u are basiclly f*cked. Talking about realism... respawning? serverhopping? hun? I dont like the need to actually serverhop to low pop server to gear up, and then join a high pop server to play the game as a multiplayer game...

I play on 30+ servers and I've seen plenty of untouched areas, if I ignore military bases and airfields.

Just so you know, servers won't restart in the future. So if there is no respawning loot, there won't be any loot on any of the serves an hour after they put an end to server restarting.

Easy to fix -

When the respawn happens have it effect a whole town or zone on the map. Have it reset the whole town; doors close, zombies and loot respawn. Once one house has been looted or a few zombies killed, it could just start a 2 hour timer on that area of the map and reset once the timer runs out regardless of how much has been looted. Make the timer pause if there are players within a certain distance of the town, so if Cherno has been looted and there are still players hanging around you don't magically see all the doors close and the zombies respawn.

It may reduce realism slightly, but it's essentially the same as a server restart only on local scales.
