Temporarily buff Melees to make them Useful

Im starting to get really pissed at the answers people provide on these forums.. I feel bad for so many OPs. If you have nothing constructive to say just play the game and quit "Monitoring" the forums like your important, because your not.. This is mainly directed to the Judopunch guy, just seems like a troll going forum to forum arguing/saying pointless shit just to bug people. Your 2 cents are terrible.

 

As far as it goes OP, I completely agree, a Machete is a Machete not a friggin butter knife in any state, the weight of one alone would do good damage even dull. I believe the weapons will get a buff, 10 hits with some of these weapons are completely bullshit and people like to act like they have been in a zombie Apocalypse before.. NEWSFLASH It has never happened. You dont know shit and if you think these weapons are balanced then your one weak ass person in RL.

 

Anyways, Kudos to OP I agree.

The problem is that the OP's never have anything constructive to say, or that could not be immediately answered by checking the sticky's or search function. The op cant manage to punch out a zombie but wants to completely overhaul the combat system. Further read the OP's remarks, they are not attempting to be constructive. And lastly, you are attacking me as a person instead of addressing my points.

way to pull that out of your ass. he never asked for a complete over-haul. he asked for other melee weapons to get buffs so they aren't useless.

They are not zombies, though, they are still human. 3-4 hits with a crowbar should at least be a knockdown as you'd likely knock them off balance or break something - to have fists more effective than a shovel is a bit silly. Perhaps melee weapons should have different swing speeds, as something to consider.

Compare this to other melee systems-

You go up to the enemy, or the zombie, you can power up your swing, shove, etc. You have more control over what you do. This is what we need.

I dont want to be drawn into another discussion about whats more effective but i agree with this.. I cant speak for anyone elses experience but for me if i dont have an axe id rather punch zombies down ( its pretty easy to do and for me i find it more effective than any melee weapon other than an axe ( fire or splitting ) maybe i am using the other weapons wrong???

 

But i can box a single zed without ever getting hit 2 zeds still not hard at 3 then it gets interesting lol i really  thought even a clumsy weapon like a shovel fire extinguisher would do well more??

Lower the axe's OP'nes. Problem solved. Now you cant just one hit them with it. Make it 2-3 lol then it's balanced.

 

Actually I agree with you, 1 hit to the head, 2-3 anywhere else. Perhaps if you miss it could take some time to recover too?

Someone gets it. Imo for guns zombies should only die 1 hit to headshot

2 for chest

3 for lower

Zombies are too easy right now. Make em a threat.

i can live with this but seeing they are human (infected but still basicly human although mostly absent of shock that we suffer that often kills us before the wounds actually do in many cases) how about there attacks are weakend once the first axe strike hits them as this does a large amount of physical damage specially to a person not worrying about defending only attacking. But they still keep attacking till final blow???

i can certainly agree with this as i have often mentioned on these forums a person under the influence of drugs (pcp and the like) are often hard to put down with shots unless hitting major organs heart brain as again they are resistant to shock as i would imagine these rage style infected humans would be....

 

But that still begs the question where do you move with the other melee weapons as currently they are little more than eye candy as i find them ( correct me if you have found how to use them well) less effective than punching.....

I think there should be a bit more variation in feel and effect, from knives which are effective against humans but less so against infected, up to sledgehammers which are difficult to swing but always knockdown the opponent when they connect. It's an area of the SA which could potentially be explored to a much greater depth in my opinion - given the situation melee should really be a primary defence against infected.

 

I also understand that the ability to throw any object will be added in the future... food for thought.

I don't see the problem with how the current melee weapons operate at this time, yes it is frustrating and time consuming, however I can down a zombie with my machete in 2 to 4 hits, those hits being aimed at the head, because unlike the Axe and Firefighters Axe, the other weapons must be aimed for maximum efficiency, just like in real life, some things take more effort than others.

 

If anything weapons such as the Firefighters Axe needs to be toned down, because you can hit a zombie anywhere on it's body and it will go down.
