Benjow 0 Posted February 13, 2014 If I can maintain my character when going from one hardcore server to another (the same way possible in Regular mode) there's no actually difference between those two modes...
Geckofrog7 1168 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) What...?Isn't there the difference of it being more realistic/immersive to some people? Edited February 13, 2014 by Geckofrog7

Bash Arkin 266 Posted February 13, 2014 Its the same thing.... hardcore you have to play in first person, but i cant see no other difference Yes it takes away your jedi powers of seeing around corners..that is -kinda- a big issues.
Monkfish (DayZ) 339 Posted February 13, 2014 If I can maintain my character when going from one hardcore server to another (the same way possible in Regular mode) there's no actually difference between those two modes...There is a difference; Hardcore is forced first person. It wouldn't surprise me if hardcore ends up having the loot turned down and the zombies turned up too. :D
=fox= damocles 54 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) 3rd person makes the game so much easier to play and negates the need to essentially expose yourself when looking over/around objects when in cover. You also have a clearer view when looking behind you. 1st person means you have to be way more careful because you can only see over something that's lower than eye height, it also limits your ability to look over your shoulder. Particularly when you are wearing the larger backpacks available, making spatial awareness a more involving task than spinning the camera around you. That's what makes it hardcore. creature 1189 Posted February 13, 2014 Yes it takes away your jedi powers of seeing around corners..that is -kinda- a big issues. Right. And, replaces them with other Jedi powers letting you see through walls instead of around them.

Baarn 53 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) The big problem with first person I see in this game, is that it isn't designed for it. I ran with a weapon in my hand and wondered why I was so slow (you can't even see guns in your hands unless you aim or look straight down), as the menu constantly disappears.I once ran half the way between two towns crouched and again wondered why I was going so slow (was a bit uphill, though), there is only minimal difference between the heads height while moving. The reduced interface (which I like) gives no feedback at all about myself. When in 3rd person the animations are clearly distinguishable, but when in first person and I want to quickly change stance and sprint away, especially with lag/desync dropping commands, there is no way to tell if I really rose my fists and started sprinting.I hope this will change, especially when some bugs are fixed and more fluent transitions between animations are implemented. The world doesn't seem to be designed for 1st person. Walls and windows are often just a tiny bit too high, and you can do shit about it and need to completely stand up to look through. Loot spawns in places you can't even see in 1st person (on top of some some shelves). I hope these issues will be adressed. But at the moment playing 3rd person, seems much more fluent. Mainly because of the visual feedback the minimal interface-design clearly lacks. (Edit: I will continue to play both, I just think both perspectives have their ups and downs) Edited February 13, 2014 by Baarn
doctorbadsign 645 Posted February 13, 2014 The difference is huge. You can't see around corners and take peeks over walls in Hardcore servers. This makes a massive difference to gameplay.
Martmital 436 Posted February 13, 2014 Wat? Not seen the vid of the guy rolling and spotting his enemy through the floor, or the one where the dude sticks his head into the wall and see's what's on the other side?

I haven't experienced either of those things on HC either. Got a link?

Rolling on the floor: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/171502-bandit-standoff/ Can't remember which video had the head through the wall glitch though, only remembered the other one cuz he has the same name as me. creature 1189 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Nope! I haven't experienced either of those things on HC either. Got a link? There are quite a lot of buildings where you can get up against a wall and stick your head right outside. Multiple ways to do it. I'm not listing buildings or exactly how to do it so you're on your own there. It's always been there (much more prevalent with all the new enterable buildings), it's just not talked about. Guessing because thats not so "hardcore" and people wish to ignore that exploit as if it doesn't exist since MOST players choose 3PP anyway. I'm going to say adapt or die. ;P But yes, it's a little unintuitive atm, but it's still 10x better than 3rd pp.Just gotta get a little more creative with positioning and the likes. In regards to the weapon drawn thing, a quick look down while sprinting to check if you have the rifle in hand works. (Or hit the inv screen) The fists will always be raised up to near the center of your cursor when you press it. Just take a second for the anim to actually finish, then sprint, dont just tap then sprint. That's not even enough time to bring them up.
