Luck is as important as skill

Recommended Posts

So I joined a "friendly" server today, I needed a sight for my m4 so I traveled from electro to NWAF, but it was looted out, server had about 15 players, so from NWAF I went to The NEAF, first building I hit, I found mousin with all the attachments on it, being a greedy sob, I took that unto my hands and pocketed my m4, the first hangar I went into had a long range scope on it which made my day, the second hangar had an m4 fully kitted out, silencer to butt stock and everything in between, the last building had a pistol with silencer and holo sight on it, and about 3 coupled mags, I couldn't believe my luck, so to pay it forward, I went to the coast of just pass berizino to give away the mousin, food and water(found about 4 canteens and enough food to feed an army) so in berizino, I went up to the building under construction to wait for any fresh spawns, went up to the top floor and ate some sardines, after a few minutes, a fresh spawn with nothing came running up the stairs, so I said "friendly", i even told him where a back pack was and offered food and water... He wasn't answering, I just figured he didn't have a mic, he picks up the back pack and an axe, as I opened my inventory to drop water and food, he rushes me with the axe and knocks me out.... I was out for less than a minute, when I came to, I was bleeding and he was busy choosing between a mousin and the pristine fully loaded m4, stood up,bandaged myself and when I saw he chose the m4, I run over and picked up the mousin shot him.... So to end this, to whoever left the mousin and m4, thanks... May be u can leave me an Sks next? Hahahaha

That guy must've been a self-absorbed asshole. I truly hate people who kill you if you give them a weapon. That is just PATHETIC.

Good job murdering him. Beans.

There are NO 'friendly' servers in DayZ, and no good deed should go unpunished EVER!

You're lucky you got a second chance at the freshie. It's a good time to remind everyone, when you put someone down, ffs make sure they're going to stay down!

Think about it simply-

in a real life situation, if you had a weapon and someone came up to you, you'd be on guard, right? when you spoke to them and they ignored you, why wouldn't you go to extreme means to protect yourself?

yelling friendly doesn't make the other person friendly. sorry, it doesnt work that way.

you need to protect yourself better. you got very, very lucky. ive been punched out by a bambi and woke up with all my stuff gone. now whats my reaction to a.) bambis charging me b.) bambis not responding to verbal c.) bambis getting too close to me & not having a natural fear reaction when someone is pointing a gun at them. All A thru C gets a bullet in the brain. 99% of the time, they were up to no good. They have nothing to lose except jogging distance, so the advantage is theirs.

the more you play, the more cautious you will become. and to further add to the mix, you have to be on guard for those who yell "friendly" back because sometimes they kill you as well.

I've been looking for a long range scope for about 15 hours now, you really are pretty lucky. Glad to hear you managed to kill that ungrateful guy. Next time make sure he clearly states he's friendly, be it via direct communication or chat and stay back from him once you've dropped the stuff.

Your mistakes were:

1) Thinking that there are 'friendly' servers.

2) Giving a guy you didn't know so much space. If he doesn't have a mic, he should die until he buys one. Playing this game with keyboard chat is criminal. You spent 30 dollars on an alpha, you can afford a mic.

3) Thinking there's luck involved in the whole situation. There's none. It was your naivette that got you knocked out, and his not to axe you in the head a couple of times for good measure. Both clearly learned something from this.

Hum... He did the whole surrender animation and wave thing.... Anyways, yeah you guys are right, I learned my lesson, so whenever I put someone down, I'm so paranoid that I take their helmet off and shoot them in the head for good measure then shoot them again before running off.
