Whenever I find some valuable loot I try not to leave it behind for others.

e.g. I drink and eat everything (except rotten fruit of course) I can  find right away, even if I'm on max energy/water, if I'm stuffed I put it in my backpack for later use - or throwing it away where noone will find it. If I find a weapon and already have the ones I need, I'll pick it up and drop it somewhere in the woods or in a pond. I empty snap loaders and magazines, just to drop the content somewhere "safe" unless I can use it. And so on ...

From the medpacks I usually take the bandages out and leave the remainings there. I also don't touch clothes or backpacks.

I started doing this after getting axed/shot in the back a few times by ungeared players I left alone, who then picked up the stuff I left behind and used it against me.

Anyone else doing this? Do you think this is too mean? :D

Mean as fuck, not socially acceptable and kinda weird. Why not? :P

I'm usually the opposite, leaving things where people will find them, usually with a note attached.

To each his own. ;)

I take the same approach with firearms but not with supplies. The less guns in circulation the better it is for me.

I pile up all of the hard hats and shovels in the street, hoping to get a work gang together and repave some roads.

Hello there

A horrid thing to do, but well within game limits and a good survival technique.

This is one of those realism vs gameplay issues.

In reality this probably would not happen but in game as most folk ARE your enemy it suddenly becomes a normal action.

Interesting.

That and the Village People reunion gig.

We know the real reason.

I usually take and dump off all the good items in some remote location.  Screw people in this game.  Everyone just shoots as soon as they see you, so I do everything within my power to screw them over.

I only do it if there is a working ammo gun combination. When I switched from my m4 to the SKS I fired off all my m4 ammo. Leaving guns and melee weapons for others is only a risk if you stay around the same area (in visible spots) for too long. With my playstyle that is not a problem for me.

I do try and eat and drink as much as possible whenever I find it, but that is part of the game mechanics, it is simply more economical to eat until stuffed instead of wasting backpack space on it. If I find food and drink that I have no use for, I just leave it there. If I find useful stuff that I already have (compass, can openers etc) I do tend to pick it up, but that is because I like to leave little presents on the coast now and again.
