Greatly slowed and the area it will be going to reduced yes for now but people are getting fibre and the NBN but yeah it was heavily reduced to original intent...

Drugs in this game are not a powerup. They are a medical supply used to treat conditions found in the real world.

I think your being overly paranoid.

Now you may have something if we were talking about Mario, those mushrooms make everything so tiny.

Edit: The real question you need to be worried about is how much bandwith this game eats. Dont you guys pay per Mb down there?

 Our internet prices are extortion.

I feel bad for you Aussies, I really do :(

I feel bad for you Aussies.  You guys get bent over for so many things there.

We are feeling the love, but we only have ourselves to blame for getting ripped:)

What can they really do though since you've already bought it. If you Aussies are smart you'll buy the alpha now and save the shit storm later on.

I think if they allowed  GTAV with its pulling bongs and pumping crack whores in the front seat of your Lambo we should be cool :)

Dayz has no drugs, only medicine.

Our internet deals are prettttyyyy lame, fact is telstra should never have been allowed to hold a monopoly on the telecommunications infrastructure, it's fucked us deeply.

Left 4 Dead 2 failed australian classification due to the Riot Police Zombies.

Really? I thought it was banned in its original form because of the gore... what made the riot zombies so special?

Sometimes this country of ours is the biggest Nanny state in the world - for a country that thinks it is tough and modern we really are a bunch of pussies when it comes to video games.

Our resident idiots seem to think that the biggest consumers of adult-appropriate content are children, and rate pretty much everything accordingly. There's only so far you can go with censorship before your governing body starts to look like a collection of fuckwits groping about in the dark...

Wasnt the project to run fibre everywhere cancelled after Murdoch realised it could hurt his cable empire?

...and of course, we hit that bar and knocked it clean off its perch with this one.

That being said, I would say delayed rather than cancelled. Our resident deadshit will be getting kicked out of office early this year if all goes well, and given there was a massive support base for the original plan, whoever replaces him will likely start the optic rollout again as an election sweetener.

I could never understand Australia. You guys are pretty much the ones that invented classic movies like Mad Max yet get but hurt when you decapitate a damn zombie. Like seriously? Your ratings group needs a reality check.

The classification board did not distinguish between alive police officers and undead zombies and did not like the fact that the game depicted shooting riot Police. It was refused classification as it would set a poor example for young teens and  Australia only had MA15+. No 18+. The gore certainly didn't help. I believe that was why zombies despawned almost instantly after killing them. I also remember that they had to rename one of the drugs used in the game and gave it a fictional name.

I'm going to switch these around to make a point regarding the monumental stupidity of our government offices...

...yep.

Political correctness is a farce. Anyone with common sense knows how far they can take something with most reasonable people before some kind of reaction will occur, or before they start insulting people. The minority being catered to - and it is a minority - with laws such as our censorship restrictions are a very vocal, very opinionated group whose greatest aspiration seems to be to bubble wrap communication, interaction and the world itself in general before attempting to shove the newly reformed product down your throat... and/or that of anyone else who happens to come within earshot.

Equity of expression is not a bad thing; quite the contrary. Extremist political correctness... well, you can see the results in places like Australia. Most of us are nowhere near as racist as you might think. We just have a lot of oversensitives.

As for the censorship board not liking the idea of people shooting police in a video game... not only is it ridiculous, but hilariously ironic. Our police force is bent, for the most part... the people who wind up trying to murder police officers are likely to do it with or without interacting with some form of media that simulates it. If they put a tenth of the effort into weeding out the corrupt from our police force that they do into policing what we see and hear... well, if nothing else, we'd probably no longer have a functioning police force. But you get the general drive behind what I'm saying.
