what would happen if i lower scenecomplexity and viewdistance?

Recommended Posts

i really dont care about how trees look

right now they're just blobs and it doest bother me as long as i dont lag on it

my viewdistance is 1600 but i think thats a bit too high

so what would happen if i lower it to 1000? will i not stuff from far away?

how about scenecomplexity?

1200-1300m is the best way to have a large view distance with good orientation and FPS. Tried it out myself and distances below 1000m make orientation hard when you are in the middle of nowhere without a map.

Scenecomplexity says how many objects get rendered in your Fov. The lower the scenecomplexity the less details get rendered on your screen.(High drains lots of fps)

Not 100% sure about that, but I heard you should atleast have your scenecomplexity at mid settings(500000), because it could be that other players in your fov do not get rendered at higher distances.

The MOD servers ran at about 1000m, you would get an FPS boost from the extra 600 but maybe not that much.

Never tried with scene complexity but if you google something like "arma 2 scene complexity" theres a lot of guides that feature it, and they should give you some idea of what to set it at for performance. Might have even seen a forum thread here that featured it, but both games use the same line in the configs :)

How about try it out and not make a thread on it?

How about not being a jerk and try being helpful like everyone else?

Don't lower your scenecomplexity too much, it makes objects disappear to keep the polygons down.

On my crappy computer back home I ran 1000 view distance, 800 object view distance, and 150000 screen complexity. That computer is way bellow recommended specs and it ran fine with these settings and the game didn't look that awful either. It doesn't even feel like that big of an improvement now that I'm playing on a decent rig. Sure I can see forever, but that doesn't really help that much, seeing as every person sees players the same distance away no matter what settings you put. I expected to gain an advantage from upgrading my rig, but the game runs just as buggy/laggy for everyone it seems. I do have higher FPS, but it didn't make as big of a difference in my gaming experience as I would expect.
