Judopunch 523 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Guide isnt to bad, there is one or two with all of the information you have covered. You should really do some basic video editing. You could make your video about half as long and just as informative with a couple cuts and maby some voice over. Edit: But keep in that first 30-40 seconds :) Its honest and amusing. MrJoeDirty 34 Posted February 10, 2014 I watched the first thirty seconds twice...where's the humor in it? "This is how to fix lag in dayz... err... TRY to fix lag..." "Rocket did a great job optimizing... err... kind of... err.... not really actually..." Just the way the guy said it. He just corrected himself on the things he said. He does it a few times later in the vid too ;D

Delarado 5 Posted February 10, 2014 Just to confirm he says about turning off post processing. post processing is responsible for the visual effect that shows you when you are low on health, if you turn it off, you will have no idea when you are not fully healthy. So I suggest to leave it on.

No advantage whatsoever, and it's horrid to look at so I suggest turning it off. This is one of the first things experienced players do.

But if your inexperienced then you just turn post processing off because it gets rid of that horrible blurry effect. You drink when your thirsty, eat when your hungry, and never reach the healthy status; Thus run around half dead all the time. If your experienced, you dont need to read any of this; As you already know :) Edited February 10, 2014 by Delarado

Then take it out of the options menu, pro player.Would both of you be happy if the devs removed the blur effect of bad health from the rest of the post processing effects??? that way you can turn pp off but still have the ill health blur. I ask because during his live stream this weekend (which was what like 5 hours) i asked him about it and he was vague said hmm yeah maybe i should.. Doesnt mean he will hell doesnt even mean he will give it any serious thought but i am asking would it make both sides happy???

I like PP, but I'm not going to use something that puts me at a disadvantage to other players. Same with gamma. If they were implemented properly so that everyone was affected by them, that's fine. I miss the night play i was actually enjoying it using a lantern ( which if they fixed the log out next time you log in doesnt work anymore was actually pretty cool)
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 10, 2014 I still play night servers legitimately when I'm alone early in the mornings before the masses log on. I really do enjoy the immersion. As soon as someone connects to my server, up goes the gamma. I died way too many times to an unknown assailant running around at night to not crank my gamma. As far as post-processing goes, it's not bad, but it makes things hard to see in the distance even when you're healthy. I like it and agree that it should be properly implemented so that everyone is forced to use it. Until then, off it stays.
frosti 2165 Posted February 10, 2014 Almost 12 minutes video and it bored me to death after 10 seconds. Can someone tl dr this for me?
soulfirez 901 Posted February 10, 2014 everything is more intense at night, fire fights are tense as hell in poor visibility zeds are almost scary in a first person server in the darkness(specially if they fixed sounds. torches need to be fixed (lanterns worked much better apart from the bug i mentioned with them). cool just getting ideas for suggestions people can roll with to put up on reddit. Rocket prefers reddit to these forums finds them easier to look at the ideas (hey dont ask me maybe its cause we aint trying to verbally kill each other there lol
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 10, 2014 Almost 12 minutes video and it bored me to death after 10 seconds. Can someone tl dr this for me? TL;DR: Good for someone just starting the game. Seasoned players/testers will have already done everything he suggests.

BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted February 10, 2014 Then take it out of the options menu, pro player. Welcome to the internet, rookie, but I am afraid you use faulty logic. Here is the explanation of an exploit in a video game: "An exploit, in video games, is the use of bug or glitches, rates, hit boxes, or speed, etcd. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers." You just proved yourself wrong. It's in the in-game options menu. It's there for you to change. It's not an exploit. It would be exploitive if you found, in your words, an unintended way to disable it. The options menu gives you the means to disable post-processing. No script or glitch required!
