In the perfect apocalyptic dayZ world we would have...

Towns held by clans where you can trade and enjoy (at least a little safety).

Other clans who might want to take over the town ;)

The "badlands" between the "civillized" areas where you can "meet" bandits and andventurers....

I know that something like this is not possible :(

But this would be the perfect game (at least for me)

 

Ps: feel free to post your view of the "perfect" apocalypse :)

Very true. But all of that would require a level of player co-operation that, frankly, doesn't seem to be in the game as of yet. From what I've seen, a good deal of players find that sort of behavior "un-DayZ-like" or "carebearish", and ridicule those who propose such ideas, regardless of how realistic the above idea ultimately is.

In order for such an idea to take shape, they would ultimately have to be some sort of resource that is worth defending in said town. I've suggested before removing the majority of water pumps from around the map, in order to make 100%-safe drinking water a valuable resource worth hoarding. Other things that could work could be a reloading bench (where someone could assemble ammunition, given the proper materials (smokeless powder, spent brass, lead for bullets, primers, etc). Maybe they could spawn at industrial sites around Chernarus?), power stations, whatever. Something worth defending will be worth owning, and conversely, be worth taking.

 

Just a thought.

I am with you OP, I think apposing clans would be awesome.

 

It may well be possible once the game is open to modding and actually i am really hoping there is a mod which will split the survivors into two groups and force them to confront each other for a limited amount of loot or something, would make for some epic battles.

You are not very demanding :)

 

In the "standard" version of the DayZ Mod, without any of the mods which came out later, people already held locations.

One trade guild blocked the gates of Devil's Castle with barbwire and sandbags, and made it safe place for people to come to and trade.

I think they even had a chopper to fly people in and out, and there were snipers on the walls watching out for hostile players and zombies.

 

It was fun until a hacker killed them all. 

I don't see why this wouldn't be possible later on, when all that stuff and more is added in. 

Especially with base building possibilities, which are planned to be implemented at some point, afaik.

 

I would like to see an entire town in clan/guild possession, with the usual bandit groups trying to drive them out.
Would be pretty cool to take sides in such an event.

It's even more likely in the standalone than in the mod, because the devs wanted to enlarge the server capacities.

Sounds good and if its possible or not kinda depends on how the game goes in regards of how many people you can get in a server (and zeds and roving herds of zeds) farming i believe is being hoped to be added this would premote pretty much what you want....

 

The biggest thing though is the mindset of players i think your far more likely to have this style in a private server( played private mod dayz server that was pretty much this) in a public server with people there oneday gone the next just up for some loot some kills and gone not likely to happen could be wrong though....

Sounds nice to me. I think organized pvp with an objective or goal is more fun then just shooting anything you see. Also adds a level of skill.

Thousands upon thousands of zeds on every server, absolutely everywhere, so that meeting a fellow player actually becomes a relief, rather than the silly KOS culture we have right now.

 

Forget bases and friendly zones, its the end of the world. Just survive, grab whatever loot you can while the horde are always just behind you... quickly make friendships, grab what you can when you can, epic survivor battles against all the odds with glorious deaths... that's what Dayz should be all about.

 

dayz should be about how long you can last the end of days, not surviving it. In a nutshell, end of story.
