Can you play Dayz with an Xbox controller?

Recommended Posts

I have searched but without a definite answer. Can you play Dayz SA with an Xbox controller? Thanks to anyone that can help.

I'm guessing so, I'm sure I saw some "controller settings" somewhere. Though, you'll probably need some 3rd party software? I can imagine it being quite a chore to sort through your inventory though should a controller work.

Edit:

Yes you can: http://www.dayzrp.com/t-tutorial-how-to-play-dayz-mod-standalone-with-a-xbox-controller

Wow you would want to detriment your aiming and control vs Keyboard and mouse players?

Good luck with that!

Ahhh the old analog controller vs mouse and KB argument... it cracks me up how console gamers swear up and down by the controller and that mouse/KB is shit... of course you know they have not mastered the use of a keyboard/mouse, or maybe never tried.

Why anyone would use an XBOX controller for this, or any PC game other than maybe sports titles and racing, is mind boggling.

EDIT: If you want a so called survival game, with controller, there is another one out there I will not mention (blasphemy?) for the 360 that was ported.  I will admit, I purchased it, ran through it in a few days, haven't touched it since.

Yeah honestly, Im not one of those people who celebrate the wonders of PC gaming over consoles, if Im playing something single player Id much rather sit back with a controller because it's just more convenient and relaxing. But why you'd want to use a controller in a game like this is beyond me. Not even taking into account the fact that looking/aiming won't be half as effective, there's no way you could quickly manage the inventory screen with a controller, and that would grate on my nerves. But, it's definitely possible.

I would recommend still using the mouse, and using the controller for movement inventory etc. I do that for all games, much more comfortable than using a keyboard, less buttons tho.

In the options disable the premade controller setting, and map it yourself. I move with the xbox joystick and aim with mouse for example.
