overdosed (DayZ) 77 Posted February 7, 2014 So after seeing many many threads about that i decided to make an experiment. I started recording the gear on each of my new characters about an hour after spawn on a FULL server with atleast 35 out of 40 slots taken. Ive never played the mod, and Ive never played Arma. Started playing with the standalone. And here are screenies of the inventory of my last 3 chars, again taken after about an hour of gameplay on a full server, playing solo. http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3335216457532025073/D483AB92C24A7E24C21603AEA9CF816B5E117D80/1024x614.resizedimage http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/3334090015934667571/548C8EFC55829FEED7C55231C209F4AD26FEC431/1024x614.resizedimage http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3334090015934660595/D3BF97F82C36F6D4D80542251EB3B24E5B8045FC/1024x614.resizedimage Each time I have a backpack, some clothes, some food, some medical supplies and a firearm with ammo. So what I mean is that finding gear is not at all that hard, unless you join a full server that hasnt been restarted in a day. And im pretty sure that those dont exist. If a server is full it means that it gets timely resets.

Karmaterror 982 Posted February 7, 2014 Gear is waaaaaay to easy to come by atm, with lack of junk items and not many items total. As the alpha progresses im sure finding things like guns and ammo will become much much harder. Or at least i hope so lol. Anyone remember finding nothing but tin cans for hours on the mod? :D

Anyone remember finding nothing but tin cans for hours on the mod? :D Yeah Im hoping that gear would become much harder to come by after awhile. My best bet is that its so abundant right now, so that items can be properly tested. Running around with almost nothing, while trying to evade bandits, get some food before you starve and find some sort of weapon is the most fun you can have in Dayz. Dchil 829 Posted February 7, 2014 Here is a hint for all the whiners. Go to the town above cherno. It has a hospital type building, a school and at least 3 grocery stores. It is also low risk because anyone who has got that far either hangs out around Cherno or heads to balota.
DropBearChick 1217 Posted February 7, 2014 I think these guys just play on full servers seriously in every one of my play sessions im fully geared from visiting one airfield and a couple towns.
thelonewarrior 886 Posted February 7, 2014 The truth is they are not complaining about not being able to find lootI personally think it's a disguise because they log in, cants find a gun with 100 rounds, try to server hop, get annoyed with the timer and come here to rage
overdosed (DayZ) 77 Posted February 7, 2014 I think these guys just play on full servers seriously in every one of my play sessions im fully geared from visiting one airfield and a couple towns. I played on full servers aswell with those 3 and many others before that. True by going on a low pop server you can get fully geared for 30 mins to an hour depending on spawn, but wheres the fun in that? I always find myself not knowing what to do once I get fully geared. Lately I either go to Elektro and hunt bandit snipers, or I do circles around the map trying to get the best possible gear while looking for a fight or someone who needs help(I basically go Elektro, Cherno, apartment complexes above Cherno, Balota, Zelenogorsk and the 2 military bases north and south of it, NWAF, NEAF, Shipwreck, Berenzino, and just rinse and repeat xD)
Etherimp 1323 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Never have problems getting geared up.. Finding ALL the best gear can be time consuming, but certainly doable with a few hours of play time. Even without a gun, and with as bad as certain players are at the game currently, it's very easy to jack a camper in Elektro with an axe and steal his weapon. If you're not feeling that ballsy, just avoid high pop areas and go up the Silk Road.. Silk Road = Chapaevsk -> Balota -> Kamenka -> Zelenogorsk -> Green Mountain -> Veresnik -> NWAF -> Bashnya If you aren't fully geared after that, you're doing something seriously wrong. Furthermore, people need to learn to check more than the obvious buildings.. I can't tell you how many times I've found Mosins and other weapons in block apartments in large cities... or just in residential buildings in general. It's funny how often people run right by 2 shotguns and a mosin to go and die at the Fire House or the School in Elektro. bfisher 561 Posted February 7, 2014 Since loot doesn't respawn, I'd be very surprised to find any loot near the coast on a full server.
chaitin 15 Posted February 7, 2014 I have not found decent gear in fire station school etc for ages but the residential buildings are a gold mine of fire axes shotguns and mosins. These were some rough apartment blocks :)
overdosed (DayZ) 77 Posted February 7, 2014 Since loot doesn't respawn, I'd be very surprised to find any loot near the coast on a full server. Oh, believe me people can sometimes miss extremely obvious loot. Many times ive found ammo and food in a completely ransacked elektro or cherno. Another thing that I encounter is also the fact that many buildings between bigger cities(like most of the houses between Elektro and Cherno) and even on the outskirts of cities are often left untouched, or at best havent been completely looted. zaphodity (DayZ) 41 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Once I move inland man, I don't have a back pack big enough to carry all the loot. It's EVERYWHERE inland. (For the bambi's) You can generally tell if there's people in a town by how the zombies are acting. If the town has a shit load of bored looking zombies, then it's very possible nobody is in the town. Zombies are like burglar alarms. So watch the town for a little while before rushing in like a bull in a china shop. I once sat watching one particular zombie that I ended up naming "Herman". Herman was slowly shuffling back and forth, like he was stoned out of his mindat a Joe Cocker concert. I kept saying "Herman's just catching some dynamite rays" and giggling to myself in the bushes. It was a nice sunny day after all. What do you call a flock of crows ?....a "murder" of crows. What do you call a group of zombies ?....a "shuffle" of zombies. Neat huh ? Landhund 14 Posted February 7, 2014 I've experienced that many peoble ignore the warehouse/stables at the cost. I've found my SKS, fireaxe and hoodie in those buildings south of solonichiy at a otherwise looted cost.
