The Anti-Server hopping.

Recommended Posts

The Anti-serving hopping thing is broken to pieces. I logged into the wrong server, logged off, logged into the right one and now I have to wait 300 sec to spawn, and I'm just standing there in the middle of the open with full gear.

I mean it was my mistake for logging into the wrong server and it's clearly the start of trying to decrease server hopping, but it needs a change :|

Just means you need to pay more attention to which server you join and plan on staying on it. You aknowledged that it was your mistake, so why does it need to change if you know it was your fault?

Sounds like it's working as intended, then.

Besides, you don't actually spawn until the countdown reaches zero.

Hi.

I'm glad they implemented this, however I don't know how much it will actually stop the server hopping. In the brief time I played today, I hid and watched the player list for about 10 minutes. During that time I noticed 5 or 6 different people hop in then leave within a few minutes.

Regards.

Remember that no one who isn't on these forums knows about what's actually going on with the patch most likely...

They're all still going to be trying. Easy fare imo.

Actually I think for the next few times I play if I see another lone player who might be hostile, I'll send a shot a few feet to the side of him and see if he just randomly sits down lol.

i agree this was implemented horribly. Also didnt know you stood there for the time when your joining. this is also bs. You should wait the time. And then join in. Why is there all this time where your char stands there defenseless.

Look at the above mentioned post, you DO NOT spawn in right when the counter starts, you load in when it reaches 0 and you see yourself, so no you don't stand there defenseless, however when you log-off you do stay in the area you logged off in for 30 seconds, so make sure your in a spot where your going to be SAFE.

I agree that this is a VERY good addition to this game, stops people from just jumping servers, and teaches combat loggers to man up, and fight.

Your character doesn't actually spawn in game while you wait.  The only time your character stays in game is when you log off from a server and that's only 30 seconds.  This is two separate fixes one for server hoppers and one for combat loggers.

With the amount of server hoppers and combat loggers, there were bound to be a few people unhappy with this.

I understand that its two seperate fixes. I though he had joined a game and was waiting on the timer and his buddy saw him standing there or something. Glad to hear you dont spawn in during this time. I would like to see the WoW type log out system though. I do not want to be standing there 30 seconds defenseless on the way out. Everyone says "goto the woods and log". Woods arent always safe. Theres no safe place in DayZ.

Well when I join servers (pre patch, haven't played yet) my character often loads in during a black screen, which I can't see or do anything but am always able to get attacked. Especially if the server resets or my computer crashes. I shouldn't be punished for that. The game should not load your character in phyiscally until you are able to move and see. It should keep a black screen on you so you can't see other players as the map loads either. period.

Yes this is rubbish theres being to much crying about server hopping and now we have a system where if you join a server that night for example and you wanna play on a day you need to wait ages before you can actually play on another. When folk complain about other issues with the game they are told its 'only alpha' but when the cry babies QQ about server hoppers and combat loggers its a different story , if folk wanna be lame enough to keep jumping server every 5 minutes or log off everytime somebody shoots at them leave them too it now the majority of folk who are playing the game normally are getting punished because of the crying of the minority.

Uhh neh, you need to change. Quit scramblin around. Your lack of patience is broken to pieces.

I also have doubts you logged into the "wrong" server as well. I think if that was the case you would see that you made an error. If YOU made the error, why blame the system?

...you need to wait ages...

lordy lordy, five minutes is ages to wait to get my digital fix....but seriously, it's five minutes and you're back in the game. get up, stretch, eat, drink, smoke, jack it, exercise, piss, whatever you can do to kill five minutes and move on.

Or you could just look at the time of day on the server list before you join to see if its a day or night server

They should remove the 30 sec char delay after logging off... You've got no control over it. A simple fucking zombie or a fresh spawn could wander up on you and punch you do death and you wouldn't know.

Sure, you could say "Go to a safe spot", but nowhere is REALLY safe. As said previously zombies or players could just happen to pass by, or maybe you got to go asap for... say a visitor, shit your pants, phone call, you name it, so you just gotta log off and wait the 30 seconds then and there and see whats around so you get a safe log out. Instead of having to run for a few minutes to get to a place you probably won't get punched to death by a zombie or player.

It would be much better to have a 30 seconds delay in which you see whats going on and can look around, but not move. Also it should be possible to abort it if you do see a zombie or player closing in for the free kill.

The current system can and will eventually punish the people who are playing fair, i.e no server hop or combat log.

??? lol

I can handel it.

I`m sure that in my whole dayz + dayz mod game time all my chars would have survived this logout system.

Hundrets of logouts...

Or it could be nothing more than people unaware of the change or people testing the new system. Edited by Sinphaltimus

Lulz, and I've got at least a dozen story's where someone bagged me 30sec before logging out in the middle of butt fuck Egypt. I've got even more story's from friends and hell even this forum. You play long enough and these thing and many more that "Never happen to me" will and do happen.

Hope you don't live your life on that mantra.

I like the idea but the system needs some tweaking which we all know it will. Main thing is let us see and be able to stop the log out and give us a timer.

Yeah the new patch doesn't do a whole lot to STOP server hopping, per say. Really just slows them down and makes it a bit more inconvenient

Indeed it is, I don't know how to tell if a server is night or day time. So I relogged and now this bullshit.

I was under the impression that most things are handled server-side and not client-side. The logout timer / wait period when joining a new server certainly isn't. I was able to circumvent the timer(s) altogether with a common program used outside of gaming.
