Wayze 549 Posted February 5, 2014 Yes I know DayZ SA is not moddable yet, but just imagine:Chernarus Life with the engine of DayZ. Proper clothingsystem, proper meele combat, proper performance, proper graphics, proper everything and female characters. It would bring the X Life concept to a new level. But what do you guys think? Is it doable? Would you like to see some people create that? And most importantly, what do you think would happen if Bohemia would invest into another development group that creates a (Altis, Chernarus, whatever) Life Standalone. Frankly I have to say it would probably be a huge financial success, who knows, maybe even similar to DayZ?I think we all agree there is a big potential and Altis Life/Chernarus Life are really poorly made (not saying it wasn't hard work, but it doesn't seem like a "real" game at all) and have many players anyways. It is important to make Bohemia realise that they have created an engine that allows game concept no other engine is able to support (at the moment). They just have to take it, turn it into something good and fish the money out of our pockets. Win for everyone...

byrgesen 1341 Posted February 5, 2014 It would be awsome, but i doubt we will be able to mod DayZ as we have done with Arma. This game is much more "narrow" in terms of engine capabilities and what the clients are allowed to do.The whole reason you have Life missions (its a simple mission btw, not a "game" at all) is because the Arma engine allows clients to do what ever they want, basicly. In order to achieve what you want, we need to be able to turn off core parts of the game, ie Zombies, loot spawns, vehicle spawns and all the other stuff, theres no need for in Life, and rewrite it all to fit Life.I dont think we will be allowed to do this tbh. The other side of the "medal" is, will the authors of Life agree to port it to DayZ?Nobody can force them to do anything, and nobody can take what they have created (scripts, textures and what ever else) and use it, as they want. Its all protected by licenses, and to be perfectly honest, DayZ is frowned upon in the Arma community, because of all the "children and hackers" it brought to the game universe. Will it be possible? DunnoWill they want to do it? DunnoWill they earn money from it? No, most certaintly not
Karmaterror 982 Posted February 5, 2014 Played a lot of the "life" mods, not much Altis yet but loads of Chernarus. I think a standalone could do well, but not as well as dayz. Life never took over the way dayz did, sure by the end in A2 there were basically 3 options...Life, Wasteland or Dayz. Some Domination servers live on but not many. Id say its around 70% Dayz, 20% wasteland/life and 10% original game modes or domination. Maybe thats changed a bit with the SA being out, havent really browsed the servers in A2 for a while. Personally i think they backed the best of the mods that came out of A2, and while backing another wouldn't be a bad thing, I dont think the demand is as big as with dayz :)
bunkers 5 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) I'm all for it if it's possible. Life mods can be really great fun if you can encourage / force proper roleplay. Edited February 5, 2014 by Bunkers

The thing with Altis Life is that the concept is based on something that needs to work. DayZ is a game where you add some players and zombies and let them do whatever the f*ck they want, it's still fun. I am talking about potential here, sure Altis Life sucks ass if you look at it from a developer perspective. That is why the game is not well visited. But if you take some guys who do serious buisness, I can almost garantuee you that with some advertisment this game would go beyond what we all think it is.So in my opinion, it's just a matter of how good the concept is implemented. If it's done well, the game would most certainly make profit. Edited February 5, 2014 by Wayze
DURRHUNTER 597 Posted February 5, 2014 it sounds like the ARMA 3 Mod Altis Life cept in chernarus
Mos1ey 6301 Posted February 5, 2014 it sounds like the ARMA 3 Mod Altis Life cept in chernarus Chernarus Life was the original version in ArmA II. I think a standalone version of the Life mod is a nice idea but it might be too hard to enforce the roleplaying and other rules like no RDM in a standalone game setting. I think a standalone version of the Life mod is a nice idea but it might be too hard to enforce the roleplaying and other rules like no RDM in a standalone game setting.Remove RP and increase gameplaymechanics. Do not allow RDM by gameplay mechanics. (very simple solution, make weapons hard to get, make life valuable) Standalone would have to change many things, the mod is just a raw concept badly designed. St. Jimmy 1631 Posted February 5, 2014 DayZ engine can be a nice base for those kind of game modes. Wasteland, Life and other kind of Arma mods could move in DayZ engine at some point.
