I go bandit hunting, mostly. Stalk people, see what they are up to. Saving people from bandits is actually one of the best ways I have found of making friendly contact. Sniper hunting is also quite fun, but it can become an agonizingly slow experience trying to judge if a sniper is there to shoot everyone, or there to shoot bandits.

You know for something posted in "General Discussion" you don't seem to want much discussion OP.

All I see is another poster making another useless thread about "bandit lyf is da only way" and "friendly gets ya killd" and refusing to actually listen to other people's opinions (suprise, suprise 'ey?)

The game is primarily about survival, how you do that is entirely your choice and I'm here to inform you on something... Listen up it's a hard concept to grasp.

Whilst your escapades might have proven that being "friendly" get's you killed, it does work for other people. So is true for the opposite, there are multiple playstyles and they aren't exactly black and white.

Also how can we be the minority if the majority of us posting on here identify as friendly?

Try leaving the coast, lowering your weapon around people, speaking in a friendly manner and most import antly, don't expose yourself until you've decided on whether or not they're friendly.

We're aren't all as bad as you seem, the majority are just trying to survice.

I do, I've left the coast many times, but when I spawn in Kamyshovo I need to run to electro for food. Most of the time this leads to my death. Bascially I decided to form a group that would take out the assholes. They are great people, the one's that I wanted to play with all along. Now the ten active people in my group agree, most people, (which should have been the title) want to kill you.

 

They don't even want your gear, they just want a kill under the belt. I personally will kill them right away. I watch the hill and for people with other bad intentions. If I saw a group of dudes run up on a new spawn, then let him go, I would not fire. If I saw one dude or ten dudes off a newspawn for no reason I would open fire. My death usually comes with doing good things, if good things can be chalked up to killing jerks.

 

Now if the spawn was attacking a geared dude for no reason, knocked him out and starts looting him, I will kill the spawn, and might help the geared dude. It really just depends. Sometimes they're both bad.

You might scream about how nice you are in game but your not. You might claim to feed the needy but you don't. Here is why:

 

1. The needy want not one can of food but your whole load out.

 

2. The only people naive enough to play this way are new.

 

3. Ghosting is at an all time high.

 

4. The game revolves around payback.

 

5. The exploits are at an all time high.

 

If you play for fun, or play for pvp, there is absolutly no incentive to lie about killing people. I've been on the super kind banwagon, and the same fresh spawns knock me out while trying to be helped.. Trust me it's a non issue now.

 

With over 300hrs in game, if you still play unicef your not doing it right. PVP is the game for the vast majority of the population. It's not call of fucking duty either, it's essentailly arma with Zombies.

 

I will say those that join on unpopulated servers may legitimatly want to play, but gear is, food, water, melee, gun's, pistol. Dude part of me want's to start a first person hardcore toon to play legit.

 

Go ahead call me out. I want you to, Any server I log into has empty barracks on balota, nwaf, zelen, outside vibor, and neaf. Hell most places have fucking flashlights and crap pants/shirts dropped on the ground.

 

My squad usually only attacks armed assholes, who shoot from the cover of trees..

 

Say well if you getting ghosted your in the same location to long... I say instead of logging your spawn in with an axe behind me, come fight like a man... I think this patch will do alot of justice.. I know it won't completly fix ghosting, but it will give me a little longer to kill the bastard.

As long as i am playing this game i didnt see anyone (only in some videos) when i meet them if he has rifle or not that he put bouth or just one hand in air and he is friendly. So i eaven dont try to speak with people because i was yelling "Hello Friendly?" and he put away his m4 and after we talk his m8 shoot me from back or v2 he say yes put away gun we talk and after than we was separateing and he shoot me in back. Only one with you can talk is fresh spawns (also you can captivate them) and ofc if they dont do combat log off :D from new patch it wont happend so i hope il see more friendly guys or more chance not to kill on site just to take something and let them live.

Ok gotcha, but then, let me ask you.. Doesn't that bug you a bit? You don't feel the need to go find this asshole? That's what I mean, This game makes you angry, people in real life don't get a second chance, or respawn on the coast.. I played nice and it bit me in the ass more than I would like to mention. I have posts that specify how I helped people in the past. Let me tell you, helping the person that kills you gets super old..

 

It's a game the end of the day.

That requires around 3-4hrs to gear up (per death) and get to a competitive state. Which simulates a sense of loss that not many games do.

It's also an open sandbox, that allows any valid playing style.

 

There is a lot of people who come from a RPG angle and enjoy the search for friendly survivors, and try to ignore the bandits. Different strokes for different folks. Who are we to judge?

 

I enjoy the PvP stuff, so my game play has evolved:

 

   from survivor > to bandit > then somekind of hero / fair bandit.

 

Obviously everyone takes slightly different paths and end points.

 

But your experiences do change and educate you.

 

I for one like to try out ALL the different styles. In order to learn and adapt.

I just find it odd, that everyone on this forum acts as if they are so kind and helpful. I guess if I created a thread that said "Let's be honest, we are all nice and helpful" I would get flamed by the people who kill saying that I generalized everyone as a kind player.

 

When I said "Try to be honest" That's an open door for you to say "I am being honest, I play nice".. I put it up this way to show all of you something.

 

I have yet to say, your full of shit, I did however generalize denial. The reason is simple, if you play to loot and survive which I would say is a good bit of people, you also must take lives. Meaning, hey, this asshole is shooting at me, fight or flight? This forum and the posts that I've seen would indicate that most people beat feet, however, in my case it's not that way. Go into any populated server in this game, you will be shot at most of the time. Run up on any dude with a gun while you have nothing, or a gun, you will be shot most of the time.

 

I am not attempting to start a pissing contest between what you think you know, and what you know. I am trying to show the community that people, do kill most of the time when they can. You wanted a reason and I will now tell you why...

 

The reason is many things, I kill just because, I kill because everyone assumes everyone is a cold blooded killer, I  kill because someone has better gear. I get killed because I didn't listen to the armed guy when I was a newspawn. I happens all the time. In short, saying the vast majority of the people are kind and giving is garbage. Once again, please tell me what servers you are playing in that everyone is so kind, because I have yet to personally find one.

 

The same people who say they play nice have also assumed or generalized my play style .Please understand,  I am generalizing my overall personal time in game, it might not be you. I personally apologize to those that are offended by my post, but playing a game with guns and other characters with guns usually ends with getting shot. I've yet to have a zombie kill me, it's either been a glitch or another player. Most of the time it's not a glitch.

 

What kills you most? Ask yourself that question, you might then find value in this post.

If you survive on the very edges of the map, your not really surviving, your avoiding and waiting for server resets to re loot. If I wanted to play solo and avoid other people I'm sure I could do it with ease.

 

I didn't start a group because everyone is so damn nice, I started a group for protection and assume they joined to have numbers as well.

A hero skin doesn't necessarily mean much, with clans in particular its not uncommon for at least one guy in a bandit group to run a hero skin, gives you a natural negotiator for inter-clan relations and, in origins at least, there are other advantages too.

I did not read the whole thread, but let me put it this way.

DayZ in its current alpha state is as far away from survival as Call of Duty: Search and Destroy Mode.

They both have perma death... only difference in DayZ is that you actually have to drink a coke every few minutes.

 

I really do not understand somebody who is not pvping in the current state of the game, simply because their is no other content.

As soon as the first major content patches arrive and/or the game gets into beta and finally vanilla state, this will be a whole different story.

If somebody writes that he has not killed a single person since release, I actually wonder what he has been doing.

I mean, aside from eating beans and drinking a coke... and walking around in the wilderness of course.

I gear up in order to have an advantage above other players. Zombies are not even close to a threat at the moment.
A shovel is enough to deal with every zombie in this game... no need to have anything else, when it comes to survival.

Still, people (me included) go for M4's/Nagas and Military-Clothing... and I can personally see no reason for this aside from PVP.

 

The whole fun that I'm currently having is about killing or get killed (...by other players).

I deliberately seek confrontations with other players, which means I'm in cities and military areas most of the time.

This is the only game where I actually get adrenaline rushes in certain pvp situations, which to me is absolutely amazing.

As soon as this game gets some additional content it will be a different story, like I said... but right now? This is the only way to really have fun.

 

Sidenote: I'm only killing armed players, I have no fun in killing fresh spawns.

 

I've encountered that the fast majority of this game shots on sight... me included. 

At the moment I see no reason for conversations because I do not intend to play in a group as long as their is no group content.

With group content I mean areas where you cannot survive alone, like a heavily infected city or military base.

...or maybe even an area which is crowded by bandit-npcs which are pve-encounters.

 

I know that DayZ is above all a Sandbox game... but a Sandbox game lives from its choices.

Right now there is not really any major choice... only one way -> PVP and nothing else.

This is not a rant, its just an objective representation of the current state of this game.

I'm sure that Dean and the Team will add some amazing stuff (... especially survival mechanics) down the road and the journey has just started.
