Teaching friends basics

Recommended Posts

I bought the standalone for a friend and a couple other of my friends had the game but never played it. People that KoS even on PvE servers a pathetic and it is a problem. If you really want to kill someone go to a pvp server. Now my friends KoS on PvE servers due to all these backstabs for no reason other then wanting loot. It's a game so respect the rules of the server you're on.

The rules are that there are no rules.

There is also no such thing as a PVE server. If it's listed that way, it's to get more targets noobs to join. Easy pickin's.

PVE servers are against the rules, I believe. They're not supposed to exist.

Best way is for them to join a lo population server to get the controls figured out. After they get the hang of it, you need to beat these three things into them.

1) Your going to die, players and bugs are both bitches. Your going to loose your shit, often, dont get attached to it.

2) Its alpha, read and think about the disclaimer.

3) Your going to die, no one cares.

Than have them join a real server and have fun! The game is about interaction, play, meet other people, die, rob, save the day, do what ever you want!

Funnily enough it's actually the PvE servers that are against the rules. Admin aren't allowed to enforce those rules as it would allow for people to use PvE servers to gather gear and then PvP on normal servers.

You can't have a "no kill"  policy on servers. So people can shoot the crap out of you anywhere (welcome to DayZ :P).

Teach your friend that in DayZ everyone is hostile untill proven otherwise. When encountering people, make sure YOU have the uperhand in the encounter untill you trust them.

And then expect them to shoot you in the back btw :P

There is no PVE servers, either deal with it or wait for private hives and have bambi life and kill zombies.

its not against the rules. The rules are you can't kick. its not against the rules to call a server whatever you want in the name : PVE and encourage people NOT to bandit. So many pricks on this forum that just want a giant deathmatch. if you dont want to play PVE, dont join their bloody server. Quite simple really. Maybe your scared of not having enough easy noobs to kill on your PVP servers.

Yeah, my clan/group thingy will be hosting an RP server soon. I hope people will abide by that and at least TRY to RP a bit (and being a badass lone wolf who shoots everyone on sight because he's paranoid they might be infected IS RPing btw ;P)

But the rules say "no kill" is not allowed... So you can't blame people for shooting others when it all comes down to it.. If people want to have safe zones on their servers, they are going to have to enforce them with guns and ammo.

Servers can still have rules that they want people to abide by. I think learning a PvE server is best because that way they can learn the map better and get a change to learn to navigate around. That is how I taught my friend Dankers. On PvE servers I treat it like No KoS. I tell my friends to not kill them but we go through the handcuff banditry stuff but we don't take anything or do anything other then that to people. Then we leave and tell them if they follow we will kill them. Getting the basics of how to act and move about the world and learning locations is best in my opinion then it is learning to die. I told them they will die often and get used to it and for the most part they have. Other then my friend thinking of the idea of logging out after being shot which later I killed him and took is stuff for doing that. I think servers should be fine to allow PvE. Sure some people would gear up on it but for new players that is a great place for them to learn the basics without having to be 100% cautious of everything and everyone. I'm not saying that don't be a bandit on a PvE server. What I was saying is atleast have the common decency to not KoS on one. Obviously it is most likely bambis on that server. Then again more I think about it trying to get anyone that KoS to act decent is probably the wrong approach.

Why do want to play on a server that doesn't allow people to shoot you?  You want to die of boredom?  You want to be oblivious to the whole experience of DayZ?  I killed two guys with one bullet tonight, I did them a favour because they were walking around Berizino looking far too relaxed, they forgot the spirit of DayZ.  But the worm turns and maybe tomorrow i'll drop my guard and get mowed down.  So don't dispair, death comes to us all no matter how many survivors we take with us.

tell your friends to learn to let go, its best if you dont name your stuff otherwise its gonna be much harder to part with it. As for PvE there's no such thing. Join less populated servers to gather loot and learn basics, you decide to join a populated server expect to get robed or KoS and then robbed. Other than that, check out the scenery, take some pictures, go for a swim in the ocean, mellow out, this is alpha and as such it has bugs and shit dont work right all the time.
