Bollocks to being friendly!

Recommended Posts

I've tried it, and all it does is get me killed. The amount of times I've heard "Yeah, I'm friendly" followed by the black screen and three words we all love I've decided "fuck it." What's the point as a solo player (None of my mates are interested in the game. they're happier with CoD/BF) trying to be friendly when all it does it get me killed again, and again, and again.

Not saying that I'm going full-on KoS now, but I'm trusting my gun/axe more than most players from now on.

Couldn't hurt to express interest in grouping up with other players here on the forums who are also the friendly types like yourself. I'm sure then your survival experience will be at least an improvement

You are doing it wrong. Never approach other players saying friendly unless you are at least 95% certain that you have the upper hand first.

I die time and time again putting my undeserved faith in people.

And I'll do it a thousand times more, I will never, NEVER go KOS.

To me it just turns the game into a really big ARMA deathmatch.

Not that that's a bad thing, and everyone has the right to their own play styles, but I find it bores me to tears.

People lack imagination unfortunately.

You're not going to get people to roleplay with you when there are no incentives or advantages for doing so. There are far too many risks involved. If you truly want to prevent KoS then gameplay needs to support this. Blaming players for securing their survival over yours is something that may seem bad from a moral perspective, but makes a lot of sense if you think about it. In the DayZ mod you could easily differentiate between players that did not KoS and players that were bandits due to their skin. The system wasn't perfect as you are forced to kill somebody sometimes. But it was a feature that did in some way improve the chances of people actually meeting up.

While there are certain people that KoS for shits and giggles, I feel that how you approach a situation sets the tone. For me personally, some kid running in circles around me saying "Friendly, Friendly, Friendly, Friendly!", it really just makes me want to shoot you. If we run into each other and you act like a normal person, all is well. If you see them first, watch for a few, if they seem shady, don't approach and/or kill them (whichever your cup of tea is).

Been in a few situations where myself and the other player are both armed, we come around a corner or open a door then, boom! guy in your face. We both react with a "oh shit, whats up man" and we talk, move on about our business, but someone starts screaming Friendly in that situation, both parties get worked up and someone fires.

I always look at it this way... one interesting unforgetable story that came from player interaction is worth the x-amount of getting shot in the face. It's too bad that most of the players I encounter have the creativity of a potato, but still those moments are worth it in my opinion. But being cautious in your approach is always a good idea, because sadly I believe my signature is truth.

To be frank, at the moment at least, if you want to team up with people then I suggest you do it through the forum.  9/10 people or more that you meet in game will try to kill you.

OP my advice would be to never announce your presence when you're out in the open. If you see someone it's best to seek cover before you say anything, then open a dialogue with them and watch what they do. If they start spinning around frantically and pointing their gun while saying "yeah man I'm friendly" then you know what you have to do.

I love people who think you NEED to be friendly in this game.

Are people friendly in ARMA3?

F being friendly. All it does it give me a guaranteed 20 min run to the AF and then to collect all over again. And I dont know that person from a hole in the ground. Err on the side of extreme prejudice.

Shoot first, ask questions later. Or f the questions. Who cares when they are dead.
