Do you feel forced to use a Mosin?

Recommended Posts

My friends and I typically play together, whether we are performing heinous acts of murder or helping the occasional passive new spawn. I typically prefer to use the M4 and go in for tactical and upclose encounters, while my friend provides overwatch.

When we are on the outskirts of a town, airfield etc I feel completely blind to movement and people in the area and my friend with a long range scope has to communicate all movement to me. Since there are no binos in the game as of yet, I feel I have to make a decision between using a gun I am more comfortable with and being able to scout effectively.

Sounds like a personal problem.

mosin 500m + engagements, everything else m4.  or if I just run with mosin I change m4 for pu scope..

Actually you can be pretty accurate with the M4 upto 700 meters if you have the right conditions and attachments. Also I have no problem scouting with the ACOG sight.

I don't even carry a secondary weapon when I have the M4. You don't need it. You will be dead long before you run dry of ammo.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I have an M4 with 4 clips including 2 double 30's, an FNX45 with 2 clips and Magnum with about 30 rounds.

No way I need that much firepower....lol. Think I might just go drop the pistols down by the coast for some lucky fresh spawn. :)

Just drop it in the middle of the road and hide in thr bushes. when somebody stops.  BLAMO!

Happened to me this morning.  Smart F*##cker.

Now not only do I not trust anyone anymore evah I won't trust "free" weapons laying there either.

I do admit it was good.  it was really good.  Kind of jelly I didn't do it first.

Hold right mouse button for elf proper vision.

Fixed :P

Default view is actually zoomed out too far, I guess trying to make up for lack of FOV on the average pc monitor. Though I would use + on the numpad instead so you don't make your character hold his breath.

Regards.

No, even though I feel completely amputated without the good old binoculars, I stick to the M4. I thoroughly enjoy laying down ostentatious suppressing fire and generally being an obnoxious dick with the M4, can't do the same with a Mosin.

But in reality, the M4 is MORE accurate than a Mosin.

Mosin are and were cheap.  I picked up mine for less than $100.  THe thing can't hit much.  I have shot several and all have the same issue.  It is an okay gun, but my AR frames are much more accurate.  I get that there needs to be game balance, but the two have very different profiles in real life compared to the game.

I'm just going to say I can't agree with you on that. (edited from something less polite). The reason why you got one for $100 is because it is the most manufactuered weapon EVER. There were 20 million rifles made between it's adoption by the russian military in 1891 through its final service in the 1950's. It served in that time as a main battle rifle and a sniper platform.

Watch a guy try to make a 1,000 Meter Shot with the Mosin

My personal Mosin I've hit targets out to 400 meters with the iron sights from a crouched rested position. I'm looking at getting a sniper variant with the original PU scope in the near future to have both a main battle rifle version from WW2 and a Sniper variant from WW2.

The potentional for accuracy at long range from the 7.62x54R round is not to be understated as well, it continues to be the round used by Russian armed forces namely in the SVD and SVDS platforms. As well as their heavy caliber for DMR and support weapons.

On the subject at hand. I don't feel shoe horned into using the Mosin, I generally prefer it. Though I'd like to point out that the forward post on the iron sights is too long. That's one of the few inaccuracies I've seen with it.

I haven't tried the experimental branch but it seems to me that SKS will pwn the shit out of both mosin and m4.

We should be able to use the scope as a monocular.

And this should be implemented later on. er... it WILL be more like. At least I remember reading that somewhere.

This morning I found myself with a sawed off, mosin, .45, and a .357.  I had an M4 in my hands at one point.  I looked at my quick slots and looked like I was playing Doom.  I chucked the M4, dumped my .45 in Zeleno, and kept the rest because I just like the shotgun but feel like the .357 is too nice to have!

gah idk what it is but that .357 doesn't like me. I have been standing completely still and shot at zombies in the chest at 5 - 10 meters and the bullets magically miss their target :/ idk if anyone else has experienced this but that is a big no-no for me. My sidearm of choice is def. the FN

I prefer the mosin, to a large degree, and will choose it over an M4 9 times out of ten, regardless of whether or not I have attachments for the mosin. I prefer the accuracy at even moderate range, the (anecdotal) greater stopping power, and the greater availability of ammunition outside of military areas.

And there is just something about the M4 that reduces the sense of feedback I get. In the mod, I prefer the various stanag rifles, as I have no problem with the way they feel and respond. I have a greater sense of how they will perform. The M4 in SA, though, just doesn't feel right. I wish I could describe the problem more articulately. The M4 just doesn't seem to act as reliably, even within a single session or even a single firefight.

While the M4 is theoretically better for CQC situations, I have absolutely no problem using the mosin to clear buildings, and in those few times when I feel the desire for more shots fired more quickly, I simply pull out my sidearm.

Oh yes, I am force to use any bolt-action-with-a-scope shit <3
