infiltrator 275 Posted February 3, 2014 Well I definitely prefer the m4 for the 'oh shit' situations. But the mosin has to be better at keeping stuff from enemies in good condition right? Since after I looted a guy who was met with 20 m4 bullets, everything on him was ruined.
deepfried 95 Posted February 3, 2014 They both have their pros and cons, the Mosin is currently the only viable mid and long range weapon, and as its one shot kill it also makes a very effective cqb weapon imo. The M4 shines in situations where you have to lay down more fire quickly, such as facing multiple opponents at once, or shooting a fast moving target that is taking evasive action. Having to chose between the two, I go for the Mosin, as most combat situations are vs a single opponent, plus you can get Mosins and 7.62 ammo from residentials, so you don't have to risk military loot spawns to get them. weedmasta 784 Posted February 3, 2014 I wouldn't say the Mosin is an effective CQB weapon at all. If you miss that first shot you'll most likely end up dead. When fielding the Mosin, make sure you carry a sidearm (FNX or Revolver) which are much better choices in CQB situations compared to the Mosin. M4 has many uses, excels at CQB and can be a formidable mid-long range weapon if you have the right attachments. Plus suppressive fire, hells yea :)

GrappleX 354 Posted February 4, 2014 Depends on where you tend to loot. If you never hit military buildings, stick with the mosin. You'll find 7.62's semi-reliably. If you do loot military its personal preference.
sanguinius51 13 Posted February 4, 2014 Both shine. I take both whenever I can. I may not be able to sprint that much, but I walk a lot of the time. Realism. And keeping situational awareness is much easier - I am far more likely to spot an ambush while walking then running. It means I can sprint, as well. That's when I'm in the north. of course, coastal is undoubtedly M4 all the way. The Mosin shines against unskilled players, but it's not good for skilled players. Let me explain. A while ago, I had an M4 with iron sights, roaming elektro, you know, being the Guardian again. I heard M4 shots, saw one of my impromptu buds fall over, and promptly ran. I found that their position was somewhere in the field near the power station. I talk to the edge of the firestation, leaned out (just a bit) and moved back in, forming a pattern. Eventually, they tried to get me. Didn't work. I saw they were in a bush, and let all hell loose. I think I must have let off 17 Mosin rounds into that bush. It killed them, and probably scared them while they were alive. The point is it really only shines against unskilled players - they were really unskilled. The M4 shines - first in CQB, and as you develop, medium-long range as well. It is excellent for flanking those Mosin pussies near NEAF, or going toe-to-toe with a squad of Mosins and shotguns. It helps at night, as you can see better, and it helps with ammo organisation, especially as you get 40 rnd and coupled mags.
Demoth 366 Posted February 4, 2014 The Mosin has caused me much anger when I can't hit people cause they are desyncing, or I'm desyncing, or because the animations can get very choppy / twitchy.Currenly, the M4 is the way to go because you just have to either close distance and spray from the hip, or go prone and single fire tap at them from a distance (though then can still put up their fists and then run 30 MPHs)

When I say animations are choppy and twitchy, I mean more for the person viewing you, because the game always feels like it's trying to play catch up with where you are (desync). DMentMan 707 Posted February 4, 2014 i prefer the M4, both are acceptable though.
infiltrator 275 Posted February 4, 2014 Do you think the SKS will be a better weapon, 10 rounds, all of which are lethal, and unlike bolt-action, can be delivered very fast? Seems to me like it will solve both of the 2 weapons' problems.

IMO: Mosin, M4 < scoped Mosin, SKS < scoped SKS < Magpul M4 Of course the M4 should be the best, hopefully it will be in the future... otherwise the US Army would dump it and adopt the Simonov. DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted February 4, 2014 I usually choose the M4 because it suits my play style, just don't expect much at long range.
