Tincup (DayZ) 20 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) I am an older gamer (43 years old, first game was Pong if that serves as a better reference) that happened upon DayZ via one of FrankieonPC1080p (awesome youtuber if you didn’t know) videos a while back. I have always gravitated toward military based first person shooters, but throughout the years the shooters have become increasingly more arcade like, which I hate. I know some like that COD type of gameplay, and I am not here to flame anyone for liking COD or its many clones. It’s just not my cup of tea. I played the Tom Clancy series of games on PC throughout the years competitively, and I love the no re-spawn heart pounding intensity of that type of game. But unfortunately that has been hard to find over the past 10 years. I have watched as hundreds of games portray themselves as a tactical shooter that will bring back the heart pounding action of those games, only to be disappointed time and time again. I never played much of the DayZ mod, maybe 10 hours or so. But when I saw the news of the Standalone version, this peeked my interest. I purchased it on the day of release and have been playing ever since. After scavenging around to keep myself alive, I found myself a weapon and some ammunition (thank God). I met up with some other new spawns in the Eleckto market place and offered them a water bottle and some food I had found. As the trade was taking place I noticed two guys heavily armed coming toward us. I made it known on VoIP that we were friendly, but I could see them drawing their weapons. This is where DayZ shines above the rest. The intensity of the game is magnified because you really want to survive in this game. It’s not like COD or BF where if you get shot it’s no big deal because you are going to re-spawn anyway with your same gear. There are repercussions to your actions in DayZ. Now back to my story. The two bandits continued to close in on our position, I again warned them that I was armed and if they came around the wall I would shoot them. With my pulse quickening with anticipation the first guy peeked out to fire and I put him down with two shots from my 357 Magnum. His accomplice tried to flank me and my new found friend only to reach the same demise as his partner. We looted the bodies to find they both had plenty of food and water and were geared to the hilt. Bandits for sure! The three of us got all the gear we could carry and moved inland. I just wanted to say thank you Rocket and team from bringing back that feeling. I have played nearly every game imaginable (as my Steam account would attest) and this is the first time in years I have been able to find a game that could make me care about my character. I look forward to what’s in store as DayZ continues to develop. Guest Posted February 2, 2014 It's great to have you hear dude and see that you are enjoying everything, but Frankie is not a great youtuber, entertaining yes, but not liked around here :P
glowfow@hotmail.com 55 Posted February 2, 2014 Mike Jenkins AKA: Tincupgamer Related to THE mr Jenkins? If you are, remind me to never join your group :P I'm also fast approaching the 'old' gamer ettiquette (30 right now) and loving the fresh breath DayZ has brought into gaming land. I've played the mod for a couple of months and really enjoyed the experience, reminded me of Ultima Online in some ways, but quit quite fast because of all the bug deaths... Seriously I see people complaining left and right on randomly dying and while I do appreciate the endevour of pointing it out, it's still nowhere near as bad as the mod (killed by fences, getting out of a car and dropping 4ft, helicopter desync, staring at a rock in the wrong way... and I'm probably forgetting a few). Anyway keep on enjoying the ride!
Tincup (DayZ) 20 Posted February 2, 2014 Related to THE mr Jenkins? If you are, remind me to never join your group :P Not sure who THE Mr Jenkins is, but I'm not him :) or am I? JK, don't have a clue who you are talking about. Most people know me as Tincup...
glowfow@hotmail.com 55 Posted February 2, 2014 Leeroy Jenkins, a WoW player whom ran into some mobs shouting "Leeeeerroooyyy" whilst the guildmaster was still explaining the coarse of action. It was recorded by someone and the vid became quite popular and the recklessly barging into dangerous situations whilst shouting "leeeroy" kinda stuck even beyond WoW. Daemonkid 493 Posted February 2, 2014 Idk why he is not liked...most people I know love the guy, altough I first heard of DayZ by Pewdiepie...yeah, by that guyHe's not liked because he hacks. (Some will try and refute this, but the evidence provided is more than enough to make an informed opinion.) He's a good video editor, and he makes himself out to be this godly DayZ player when in reality he is nothing but a script kiddie. He's a fraud, he lied to his fans and his "100% Legit" content is not legit. A lot of it is staged.
Igglas Cage 173 Posted February 2, 2014 How long will people keep talking about Frankie and if he hacks? Who gives a f... anyway?
Gerandar 212 Posted February 2, 2014 How long will people keep talking about Frankie and if he hacks? Who gives a f... anyway? Jealous people being jealous of another person being better at a game then them. welcome to the internet?

Daemonkid 493 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) People gave an F about Armstrong cheating... and he lost almost everything after those allegations.Frankie fan bois are basically allowing this guy to live off playing video games even though he blatantly lies to them. He makes 5k a month off youtube, and did nothing to deserve that kind of fame. (Other than editing a video together and lying about the authenticity of the events portrayed.)There are much better DayZ players out there who deserve to be making that kind of you tube money other than a dirty fraud. Daemonkid 493 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Jealous and mad at what? The evidence has been posted, and it's up to you to make the decision on what you think. He undermined the whole point of DayZ. You have other guys who are 10x better than Frankie, yet they don't have half the recognition as he does, and he attained that fame through lies and illicit means. He's nothing but a charlatan, and you're defending a swindler. He played everyone for financial gain, and you ate it all up. Edited February 2, 2014 by Daemonkid
irl-calibre 744 Posted February 3, 2014 should read seven deadly sins by David Walsh the journalist that went after that cheat Armstrong.. amazing read and a fascinating insight into the mind of fanboys that defended him to the hilt..
Igglas Cage 173 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) How about you guys discuss this topic through PM so the thread doesn't get hijacked by nonsense?I think the OP and everyone else would appreciate it. Edited February 3, 2014 by Nigglas Cage
dallas 5195 Posted February 3, 2014 DayZ is far, far from perfect, but it generates real emotional responses unlike most other games. Shooters have become a very generic experience in the last couple of years and the cinematic experiences place you more on the sidelines as a member of the audience, rather than throw you in the midst of it, like DayZ does. Vixoran 14 Posted February 3, 2014 Sorry but I think you only feel that way because it worked out in your favor. Get chased down and killed a couple times for no reason and I'm afraid you'll feel differently.Glad you're enjoying it though, it only took me one weekend of the free for all sociopath circle jerk fuck fest to get tired of it. Tincup (DayZ) 20 Posted February 3, 2014 Ok guys back on topic before they lock my thread :)I killed four bandits at the northeast airfield that tried to pin me in the airfield jail. Well I call it a jail. I don't really understand the bandit thing, u mean what's the point. Most of them are fully geared, at least the ones that I have met. But I have learned quickly to proceed with caution when coming in contact with others. It helps if you can meet up with a friend, or friends. I am looking forward to the ability to build fortifications and such. Edited February 3, 2014 by Tincup
