mareak 50 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) It's great to have you hear dude and see that you are enjoying everything, but Frankie is not a great youtuber, entertaining yes, but not liked around here :P Check out "theradbrad" his playing this game too but look funny. I am an older gamer (43 years old, first game was Pong if that serves as a better reference) that happened upon DayZ via one of FrankieonPC1080p (awesome youtuber if you didn’t know) videos a while back. I have always gravitated toward military based first person shooters, but throughout the years the shooters have become increasingly more arcade like, which I hate. I know some like that COD type of gameplay, and I am not here to flame anyone for liking COD or its many clones. It’s just not my cup of tea. I played the Tom Clancy series of games on PC throughout the years competitively, and I love the no re-spawn heart pounding intensity of that type of game. But unfortunately that has been hard to find over the past 10 years. I have watched as hundreds of games portray themselves as a tactical shooter that will bring back the heart pounding action of those games, only to be disappointed time and time again. I never played much of the DayZ mod, maybe 10 hours or so. But when I saw the news of the Standalone version, this peeked my interest. I purchased it on the day of release and have been playing ever since. After scavenging around to keep myself alive, I found myself a weapon and some ammunition (thank God). I met up with some other new spawns in the Eleckto market place and offered them a water bottle and some food I had found. As the trade was taking place I noticed two guys heavily armed coming toward us. I made it known on VoIP that we were friendly, but I could see them drawing their weapons. This is where DayZ shines above the rest. The intensity of the game is magnified because you really want to survive in this game. It’s not like COD or BF where if you get shot it’s no big deal because you are going to re-spawn anyway with your same gear. There are repercussions to your actions in DayZ. Now back to my story. The two bandits continued to close in on our position, I again warned them that I was armed and if they came around the wall I would shoot them. With my pulse quickening with anticipation the first guy peeked out to fire and I put him down with two shots from my 357 Magnum. His accomplice tried to flank me and my new found friend only to reach the same demise as his partner. We looted the bodies to find they both had plenty of food and water and were geared to the hilt. Bandits for sure! The three of us got all the gear we could carry and moved inland. I just wanted to say thank you Rocket and team from bringing back that feeling. I have played nearly every game imaginable (as my Steam account would attest) and this is the first time in years I have been able to find a game that could make me care about my character. I look forward to what’s in store as DayZ continues to develop. Thanks again,Mike Jenkins AKA: Tincupgameri2 Gaming: https://www.facebook.com/groups/i2gaming/ Same here buddy. I'm 40 this year and still playing games. This DayZ really kick some ass. Unlike you however, I tend to give a wide berth to any contact, I'm the Lone ranger type but maybe when the game is fully release I might going in and help the new spawn.
