Anyone still noticing servers that do this?

I joined a server the other day, can't remember which one, but this made me chuckle (Which by the way the server can be removed for doing this as I understand).

 

Looped announcement came up from the admin upon login:

 

"Do not kill someone without talking to them first/NO KOS it is a bannable offense

Do not steal from other players

Do not kill new spawns

If you do not listen to the rules you will be kicked/banned."

Those are close to the rules I have scrolling on my servers MOTD.

 

I go ham on everyone I see, take their clothes, and leave their half naked corpses littering my streets.

 

The rules are unenforceable, and any server admin who posts them on their server are either out of touch with reality, or a total troll.  Like me.

Most servers just encourage them with their MOTD (and not usually in their names, as that makes them a target). You cannot enforce them at this point in the testing cycle, and you should report them if you are subject to enforcement of rules like that. Some people report them just on the name and MOTD alone too.

See I thought of this too, which made me laugh even more. "What if the admins are totally trolling." But personally I wouldn't want to risk my server getting this reported simply because it was in the message of the day and not actually enforced.

Been running for over a month without being banned or removed, not that I care one way or another.

 

I held a guy up two weeks ago who was practically screeching over the VOIP that I was breaking the rules on a PVE server and would be reported.  I thought he was going to have an aneurysm.  So I shot him.  

 

If that dude didn't report the server, nobody did.

 

I suspect server hosting companies are aware that it's empty bluster, and thus haven't taken any actions to stop or punish it.

Trying to hold people up or shout hostile, which i think is probably the dumbest rule ever, aint worth it as long as this lame ass combat logging and ghosting is a viable option to these pussys.
