Problem with In-Game Sodas?

I have noticed that In-Game Soda's cure Hunger as well as Thirst, is this intended?

Yes, they can replenish some small amounts of food.

Soda has calories. Calories give energy. That's a pretty good reasoning for it. I can't say I've ever felt particularly satisfied when drinking a soda while hungry, but it does seem to impede the hunger from getting worse sometimes.

Hunger (in game) indicates you are low on energy, not an empty stomach.

Soda provides ~142 Energy, ~330 Water and fills 165ml of your stomach capacity.

What dictates hunger in game is when your energy storage gets below 600 out of 20,000. Since you only need calories to survive in this game, all you gotta do is devour everything in sight like Unicron.  

How the hell do you even know what a unicorn eats? I could eat rainbows and children mascot singalongs as fare as anyone knows. XD
