Ymath 30 Posted January 27, 2014 Can we get some stickies on this sub-forum explaining etiquette and rules of posting?I've nearly given up on this sub-forum because of the rampant re-posts and shit-posting.Stickie popular threads / idea's so they don't get re-posted within the hour. Max Planck 7174 Posted January 27, 2014 Sadly, the people who don't search don't read stickies either.
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted January 27, 2014 yup it's just a vicious circle of people being ignorant and repeating the same posts over and over and over again.
commanderbash 102 Posted January 27, 2014 actually, making a sticky of the top discussed ideas would be helpful, then there wouldn't be a new how to stop server hoppers every other day
Korsbaek 1778 Posted January 27, 2014 I'm sick and tired of combat loggers. I'm going to make a thread about it.
OrLoK 16188 Posted January 27, 2014 Hello there As max has said, we have done this before, but there are many who just to like to mash at their keyboard. So many posts start with "I know its alpha, but..." and "I'm sure there's been lot of posts on this already, but..." And variations of. No matter how many neon signs we put up, folk will just refuse to read them. Rgds LoK
Max Planck 7174 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) actually, making a sticky of the top discussed ideas would be helpful, then there wouldn't be a new how to stop server hoppers every other day I'm willing to bet my beans that there would. The problem with stickying popular ideas is that we'll have to choose which ones get stickied, and that would sort of make those ideas 'better' or 'more official'.We would be in a position of judging community ideas, and that is simply not up to us. I guess we could have a general 'how-to-post-here' topic pinned, but again, nobody reads those. Go check how many views the forum rules has... I'm sick and tired of combat loggers. I'm going to make a thread about it. Oh-noyoudontmate Edited January 27, 2014 by Max Planck Orlok. Horse, Gentleman, Ninja.
Monkfish (DayZ) 339 Posted January 27, 2014 Ymath, get out of my head. I was thinking about this very thing whilst eating dinner. I joined this board three weeks ago after getting the Alpha and the suggestions section had some 4-5 pages of posts. It's now on 36. My concern is simply that some excellent ideas have been posted and will have been pushed back several pages by shit and reposted ideas, where they may be missed by the devs. I'm pretty sure most sensible community members will join me in being quite pissed if some excellent ideas don't make it due to the devs not noticing the thread as its buried under eleventy "fix for <insert favourite reposted idea>" threads. The problem with stickying popular ideas is that we'll have to choose which ones get stickied, and that would sort of make those ideas 'better' or 'more official'.We would be in a position of judging community ideas, and that is simply not up to us.How to choose which ideas get stickied would be fairly simple; base it on the number of beans given and/or positive response supporting the idea (this would include posts that are additional to the OP and expand on the idea further), with the community making suggestions for inclusion into the list. At least by having a list, it's a nice one-stop location for the devs to check out once in a while to see if something catches their eye without having to don their bullshit waders and take a stroll though what I imagine will shortly be 50 pages. G'wan.
cels 43 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) actually, making a sticky of the top discussed ideas would be helpful, then there wouldn't be a new how to stop server hoppers every other dayOn top of this. Would help the dev team on every other topic as well since the sticky's would be the go to place to look for ideas and not just going page after page trying to gather all the ideas people has come up with.
