Zombie children,Dismemberment,Burns/Scars

Recommended Posts

Allow me to start by saying, this is a game for adults. The Developers shouldn't concern themselves with holding back content to appeal to a younger audience. If parents want to allow their children to play this game that's fine, but they shouldn't expect violence to be toned down.

Zombie Children

I firmly believe they should be different "types" of zombies, but not like in left4dead or house of the dead. Fat zombies with larger hitboxes,police/military zombies with body armor, and zombie wildlife have been suggested and are very good ideas, but I think zombie children should be a part of the game. Smaller hit boxes, lower health and it gives a more bleak out look of the situation. It will tell players "families lived in this town" and remind them that this is a survival horror game.

Dismemberment

Fallout 3/New Vegas has a very good dismemberment system. I think later down the road a similar system should be implemented. Dismembering a geared player with an explosive or large caliber guns would outright destroy their equipment sans anything left intact on an appendage, like a glove of a helmet. It would force players to consider the power of their weapons, leave contested areas like bases and large cities look like player made warzones that would be different on every server run and humiliate those who see their character get torn apart before they die.

Burns/scars

Explosives are confirmed, why not have anyone who is wounded by an explosive or incendiary weapon be permanently disfigured by them. Other players could see "that guy has seen some shit" and people could grow a greater attachment to their character. Guns and stabbing weapons should leave scars for the same reason.

Dismemberment

Definitely like this one.

Burns/Scars

Again yes.

Zombie Children

It's a nice idea, but no. This would probably get it banned in Australia, which would cut off a very large part of the community.

I figured since zombies are dead, it wouldn't count as killing children.

I like it. Not too sure if the engine could support dismemberments but scars could be added like a layer of "clothing" (one you can't take off). For the child zombies, Its rediculous to think that such a global catastrophy would leave children magically unharmed (because its immoral). Like it or not, kids can die.

Yes, but adding dead children will probably get the game banned in certain nations removing customers and a sizable portion of the player base.

Having pain killers (morphine, which this game has) would ban it from Australia too.

Tonz of coding involved to do this properly but I like the concept buddy. Keep thinking! Great ideas coming out lately!

dude, they removed writing on paper because people kept writing dumb stuff on em, I'm sure they won't add any kids in the game. But with the dismemberment, that would totally be cool man, It be like Left 4 Dead but open world, such a cool idea bro.

This. Australia bans stuff for whatever lame reasons all the time. If you want to make a game sellable over there you'd never be able to make it remotely gritty, gruesome or violent or anything else adult oriented. Sorry but, if you're in the indie gaming business to make a buck from Aussies, don't make an adult game!

Are they gonna remove ability to play as different races too? Because you know, I can go around and kill people only of the specific race.

Awesome ideas, although, as Syphax said, not sure if the engine would support dismemberment, especially dynamic as with Fallout. If it does though, it begs the question "should this be applied to the player and, if so, how?".

Also, fuck Australia and their, frankly ridiculous, game content restrictions.

My thoughts exactly.

The burns scars I like, the rest seems a bit.. well, I'd rather see the Dev's putting their time and energy into things that will add dynamics to the gameplay, different kinds of Zeds are appearing already and dismemberment is aesthetic - "He's dead. Does he have a friend? What loot does he have? O.K. Move on."

That battle-scarred survivor thing did look to have been intended with the clothing damage but it doesn't seem to really work out that way in game... You don't know if the guy has picked up damaged clothes or been in the wars. So, yes, something to definitively mark an old-timer would add a new element to player interactions. Personally though, I'd go with the beard/hair growth option. I like beards.

Yes, yes, and yes. But i highly doubt they will add the zombie children. I think i saw an interview with rocket and he was asked about it and i believe he said something about avoiding zombie children, i dont remember why. But yeah, not counting on that one.

You see children killed in movies all the time and no-one cares.

Put children that you can kill in a game and the media will go batshit insane and you'll see the game banned in a number of countries.

Well, add most of this if you want to make the game illegal in half the world :)

And Rocket already said children will not make it into the game, for this exact reason hehe.

If you want zombie children. A.K.A. Smaller targets, let's get some crawlers-That don't stand up. Dismemberment would be fantastic satisfaction for snipers, or ax swingers! And it would be awesome to have battle scars, but not permanently, they should be temporary, and heal up.
