Have you ever been scared to continue?

Recommended Posts

I have been playing with this character for a few days and collected nice gear for him. Right now, I am scared to log in and play because I dont want to lose my character...

ummm dieing n starting over is the best part of dayz...

it gets very boring keeping the same gear forever.

just play and let the adventure unfold.

Sometimes I feel like this... but then I start to get a little bored of playing ultra safe... and just start walking around in towns without taking too much notice of if there is another player around lol... havent died in a while though still... ive been lucky enough to only meet friendlies...

If you play like a pussy avoiding everyone and hoard all the best gear its gonna be way more frustrating WHEN the inevitable happens, better play the hell outta that character, go kill some baddies or torture newspawns, whatever rocks your boat.

Almost every player experiences this feeling, and it can be hard to come to terms with losing all the hard sought after gear after surviving and adventuring for several days. Just remember, you won't lose it if you're careful, but when you do die, each new spawn brings another new experience.

I know that feels.

And when those feels come I turn down in-game sound. Put on some youtube music to get pumped and I head to NWAF.

when im fully geared, i tend to get bored. so a couple times i suicided just so i can start gathering again.

if you dont enjoy gathering, this probably isnt the game for you. youre going to die a lot. and sitting in the bushes paranoid and too scared to move is well, lame.

What make me scared, intense, and terrified is killing other players that try to do the same thing back to me all alone. It happened to me one time when I was beating up a Zed up with a fighter ax on a small village. While I was swing my ax crazy, I here a shot fired and it landed right next to me. But I wasn't shot, lucky for me. So I figured out that I was getting sniped. Than, I decided that I would take cover inside a small medical house so I could avoid getting sniped. My stomach felt so tight and I breath heavy that I think there a group of bandits that are trying to kill me, but I knew I have to defend myself in order to survive. I check the entire house and each window to make sure if there are any bandits inside the house or outside. Then, I decided I would take cover right on the right side of a closet at the entrance of the medical building and get my M4A1 assault rifle in case the bandits come inside. Than, I wait for a few minutes  until I saw one yellow military/bandit like uniformed try to open the door and I deployed full burst of my rifle. About 4-5  hits latter. I hear an "augh" faint from the bandit and I finally took advantage. I decided to check outside to see if it all clear, but it turns out there only one player I already killed. I decided i would check his own inventory for any useful gear for a few seconds until I made a wise decision to retreat in the wood in cans any of his/her friends come. It wasn't easy but I successfully defended myself.

bite the bullet and get yourself used to being in harms way. Go hunt bandits or help new players. I was actually just playing in Berezino saw a guy spawn with a shovel, he didn't seem like a threat so we chatted for a minute I dropped a Magnum and a few dozen bullets for him as all he had was a shovel and he then had me open a can of tuna for him. We went our separate ways.

Sometimes it gets lonely and the guy seemed desperate so it is fun to help people in game. Maybe you should start doing that?

I'm currently slaying server hoppers. I only play one server and it upsets me greatly when all of the airstrips are looted when I finally get to one of them after a long, uneventful haul. So I decided to close all of the doors in the building I'm camping to lure hoppers in if they don't spawn inside. Then I waste them. If they spawn inside near me I just run over and axe them before their eyes adjust and they can equip a weapon.

Three in the past hour. :3

It's just a small transition snake2356, most if not all of us have been in that same predicament. Be it from the mod or now standalone, the quicker you come too terms with the fact that in DayZ anything can and will end your life.
You'll get a lot more enjoyment out of looting, exploring new parts of the map and even some encounters with the "Friendly/not so friendly" locals.
This endgame gear is just a static goal for some players and can hinder their experience because after all it's all about the challenge and experience you want to get out of this game.

This game(experiment) is suppose too frustrate you and make you paranoid otherwise why play it. Hope you manage to overcome your login phobia and get out there and enjoy the DayZ experience for what it is.

Some beans for your journey. :beans:

I am scared all the time. Whenever I have more than my starting gear I have obtained something. I really care for my gear. I really do.

This is what keeps me alive. I am very cautious, which is why I tend to play alone. I am not going to run into NWAF. I have played about 700 hours in publichive of the mod and I only visited the NWAF three times in total.

Being scared is what keeps me going. Enjoy it. Don't be afraid. Don't stop - it's part of the game.

If you can't take it - fair enough. But don't rage when you lose everything. I am scared to lose everything, but when I do, I start over. No need to think about what I have lost - it's a new life. :)

I actually did the same thing today at a small town north of Electro, basically gave a guy who was a rather fresh spawn and had decided to head north everything I had. I was right about to log off when I saw him, just said "Hi" at first and asked about the town he came from. I walked about 50 meters away and thought, "oh, what the heck" and gave the guy all my gear. lol It was completely random and probably quite pleasant to him.

I'm with the guys who've killed themselves on fully geared characters. I've done it more than once just because I like gearing up and scavenging so much....
