Zombie Damage... WTF

Recommended Posts

In my honest opinion I think the bleeding effect from Zombie attacks needs to be taken down a little. I can understand getting hit multiple times by a zed and starting to bleed profusely but every time a zombie swings at me I start bleeding out? COME ON!!!! Does anyone else feel this way about the standalone?

Dodge them. You can tell when they're about to strike.

The only melee weapon that is worth using is the fire axe, everything else is as weak as your fists.

And also, until you find some proper bandages, horde shirts and tear them into rags.

Mixed views here, I'd want Zombies to be even stronger and for you to bleed out quicker but not die...So you could be revived with blood bag etc... remember it is a zombie hitting you ;) 1 lethal hit and you should really be dead lol (turn into a zombie)

Maybe we can have a probability that, if landing a hit, the zed throws itself at you, latches itself to you, and bites your throat out.

(That way you will not at all worry as much about bleeding)

You must be one slow dribbling person.

I look forward to the day when i find you, loot you and rape you before you've even realised what's happened to you!

with any luck the zombies will have more than 1 attack , fists are for bludgeoning & shock damage .

biting is for ripping , tearing juicy sweet meat off your bones in a fountain spray of blood .

I agree. The fact that melee combat has terrible hit detection doesn't help. It's really annoying when nearly every single encounter with a zombie ends up with you needing to patch up.

The trick is to act like a matador. Let them run at you, strafe and pull up on it's side. Hit with axe, repeat if needed. I rarely get hit and can kill zombies with the regular axe using this method

Once you get better gear on, you won't be injured as easily. Also, learn to circle strafe. I've killed 4 Zombies at one time with a pipe wrench and did not get hit once (although I got them to hit each other)

Yeah, not every blow will make you bleed with better gear (unless it's a bug of some sort). Working on the techniquie me and f1ack suggested really improves your ability to fight these off with crap weapons

actually just keep the rags

1 bandage=4 bleedings

1 stack(6) rags = 6 bleedings

Edit: Better clothing will protect you more so check the quality of your stuff before leaving that pristine shirt behind

This. Zombies can only attack in a straight line, and once they attack, they take another ~5 seconds to attack again. They're literally retarded.

I dont like it when they attack me cause they have a BIG chance to degrade gear as well. Especially on rare items. Its best to take them out with ranged quick or run if you have to.

What kind of head gear are you wearing?

I started wearing the black beret and have to bandage after every zed encounter. I went back to ballistic helmet and I'm not bleeding like I was with the beret.

Dont forget the bike helms are really good for this as well.

This is very true for the time being... However, once infections are coded into the game, You'll get infected wounds more easily by using rags.

This is where things like DUCT TAPE would come in hand. You could wrap your fist in these as well as wrist and arms thick enough to form a kind of arm guard when fighting the undead infected. Think about it. They would have a harder time chewing through to your flesh when your wrapped thick with that stuff.

Maybe some leather jackets wouldn't hurt if it's good enough for reducing bleeding when travelling at 100 kph on the road I'm sure that it would make it harder for the Z's to get thru.

Hi.

Funny most people tend to say the zombies pose no threat at all, yet we still get people calling for nerfs

This is crazy, if anything the zombies need to be made tougher, a lot tougher.

Regards.

the zombies are really only a threat in the first 15 mins of play, survive that and you're good to go!

I always use the fire axe if I can. I find if you aim a head width to the left it is always a direct hit. Trying to axe them with the aim point directly on them is useless.
